BIM Specialist (Starbase)

Starbase, TX

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

BIM SPECIALIST

SpaceX is expanding facilities and infrastructure across Starship production and launch sites, data centers, and offices. We are seeking a BIM Specialist to lead Building Information Modeling (BIM), integration and coordination on fast-paced, multi-disciplinary projects. This position will serve as a key technical resource on both buildings and the systems within them that support Starship production. You will work with a team of modelers and responsible engineers, owning the overall BIM management throughout the project lifecycle from design through construction and turnover.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain detailed 3D BIM models using industry-standard software (Revit, NX, AutoCad) for architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), fire & life safety, tooling/equipment, and other engineering disciplines
  • Perform clash detection, model coordination, and constructability reviews in Navisworks and Autodesk to identify and resolve conflicts early in the design and construction phases
  • Lead BIM coordination efforts between external design consultants and internal responsible engineers for multi-disciplinary projects, ensuring the seamless integration of models and data
  • Collaborate closely with project stakeholders to establish and maintain BIM standards, protocols, and workflows
  • Act as the primary BIM resource for team members, internal customers and external design consultants, addressing technical issues and optimizing BIM processes for project success
  • Work with the design and construction teams to keep a living model that will culminate in an as-built of the facility at hand
  • Lead the transition of BIM workflows from third-party providers to in-house operations, including data migration and process documentation
  • Generate accurate construction documentation, shop drawings, quantity takeoffs, and visualizations to support project bidding, procurement, and on-site execution
  • Troubleshoot technical issues in BIM environments and recommend software/tools/process improvements to enhance efficiency
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings, providing BIM expertise to inform design decisions and mitigate risks

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering or construction management
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience as a BIM Specialist or Modeler in a construction or engineering environment

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in BIM coordination, with multidisciplinary experience on high rise projects
  • Experience modeling multiple disciplines (e.g., architecture, structural, MEP)
  • Experience with owning BIM coordination through construction administration on multiple large-scale projects (high rises, factories, data centers, etc) and familiarity with means and methods of construction
  • Proficiency in BIM authoring and coordination tools, including Revit (advanced level), Navisworks, and related plugins
  • Certification in BIM (e.g., Autodesk Certified Professional in Revit for Architectural Design/Structure/MEP, or AGC BIM Certificate)
  • Knowledge of advanced BIM integrations, such as reality capture (e.g., laser scanning with Trimble or Leica) or VR/AR visualizations
  • Design experience in architecture, engineering or a related field
  • Experience with Siemens NX

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position is based in Starbase, TX and requires being onsite - remote work not considered
  • Must be willing to travel to various SpaceX locations for mission critical projects
  • Flexible to work extended hours and/or weekends to align with residential project deadlines and site operations
