Data Operations Associate
Summary
Spark is looking to bring on a Data Operations Associate to help us model and improve our data. Historically, the industry has had a lack of transparency, however, Spark is on a mission to change that and you can be a key part of the change by helping Spark and our customers wrangle, structure and improve the quality of our data.
In this role, you will be responsible for improving some of the core datasets that power our business. You will take data from its raw form, inherently messy and non-standardized, and run processes that clean and standardize that data. You will learn to understand what different data sets mean, where they come from, and regularly aggregate that data for the organization. As a valuable member of the Spark Data function, you will collaborate closely with data, product, engineering, carrier relations, and other organizations across Spark to deliver these datasets.
What you’ll do
- Manage & audit agent, partner, and client health data, ensuring we can track effectively across the organization and provide timely external reports
- Use BI and Analytics tools to monitor data quality and catch data issues before our customers do
- Dive into data quality issues, using your knowledge of the business to understand issues and correct them
- Coordinate directly with insurance carriers to understand and debug data issues
- Automate manual processes to improve both internal team productivity and agent experience
- Partner with data and engineering teams to ensure high quality data and efficient data ingestion and processing
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to better understand the complexities of the business and orient data processes around those complexities
What we need
- 1+ years of operations, consulting, or data experience using Excel
- Additional technical experience with tools like SQL, Python or BI tools
- Ability to learn new tools and pick up technical concepts quickly
- Proven grit needed to navigate complex and messy data problems
- An eye for detail, able to identify small details out of place
- Experience following and giving feedback on standardized processes
- Strong communication skills for working cross-functionally with various teams
- Ability to understand complex business logic and translate into technical processes
- Ability to continuously refine processes, adopt new technologies, and incorporate feedback
