Dental Hygienist at Smart Pediatric Dentistry
Smart Pediatric Dentistry is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and patient-focused Dental Hygienist to join our team. What You'll Do
As a Dental Hygienist, you will provide comprehensive preventive dental care while helping children develop healthy oral hygiene habits and feel comfortable and confident during their dental visits.
Your responsibilities will include:

Provide thorough and gentle dental cleanings for pediatric patients

Perform oral health assessments and document findings

Take dental X-rays as permitted by applicable state regulations and practice protocols

Apply fluoride treatments and dental sealants as directed

Educate children and parents on proper brushing, flossing, nutrition, and overall oral health

Help children understand the importance of preventive dental care in an age-appropriate and engaging way

Monitor patients for signs of dental disease or other oral health concerns and communicate findings to the dentist

Assist with maintaining an efficient patient flow and a positive clinical environment

Provide compassionate care to children who may be anxious, nervous, or require additional support

Maintain accurate and timely patient records and clinical documentation

Follow all infection control, sterilization, OSHA, and safety protocols
-
Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming treatment environment

Communicate effectively with dentists, dental assistants, and other team members

Maintain and monitor dental hygiene supplies and equipment
-
Perform other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications:

Active Dental Hygienist license in the state of Utah
-
Graduate of an accredited dental hygiene program
-
Current CPR/BLS certification as required

Pediatric dental experience preferred but not required

Strong understanding of preventive dental care and oral hygiene practices

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Comfortable working with children and families

Ability to educate patients using clear, age-appropriate communication

Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety

Ability to remain calm, patient, and reassuring with children who may be anxious or fearful

Dependable, organized, and able to work effectively as part of a team
