SAP Functional Architect - FICO and Global Tax

We are seeking a Global Tax & Regulatory Compliance (GTRC) Functional Solution Architect (FSA) to support SAP clients globally. This role is responsible for analyzing legislative and regulatory changes, assessing client impact, designing functional solutions, and delivering end-to-end SAP implementations to keep clients compliant across multiple countries and jurisdictions.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on SAP FI/CO consultant who can translate tax and regulatory requirements into ERP configuration. You must be able to design, configure, test, deploy, and support compliance changes using Agile methodology.

This is a fully remote role, but must be based in United States. 

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assess global tax and regulatory changes, including e-invoicing, VAT/GST, withholding tax, statutory reporting, and country-specific compliance deadlines.
  • Review legislative publications and tax authority guidance to determine impact on client environments.
  • Translate regulatory requirements into functional SAP solutions, including tax procedure updates, e-invoicing configuration, reporting changes, withholding tax adjustments, and payment format updates.
  • Assess cross-module impacts across AP, AR, GL, Fixed Assets, Procurement, and reporting.
  • Configure and implement changes in SAP ECC and S/4HANA, perform testing, support UAT, and coordinate deployments across Development, QA, and Production.
  • Deliver solutions on time to meet regulatory deadlines and provide post-go-live support.
  • Serve as the primary client contact for compliance matters, conduct compliance reviews, and maintain documentation for delivered changes.

Required Qualifications

  • 15+ years of hands-on SAP FI/CO configuration experience in ECC and/or S/4HANA.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering tax and regulatory changes in SAP.
  • Strong knowledge of VAT, GST, withholding tax, e-invoicing, SAF-T, and statutory reporting.
  • Ability to interpret legislative requirements and convert them into ERP functional designs.
  • Experience with SAP tax procedures, condition types, and withholding tax configuration.
  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
  • Multi-country regulatory experience preferred, especially across EMEA, LATAM, APAC, and North America.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SAP DRC, SAP e-Document, and SAP PAIN / ISO 20022 payment formats.
  • Knowledge of country-specific compliance requirements, including Brazil, Portugal, Italy, Poland, Mexico, and/or India.
  • Exposure to SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud regulatory change management.
  • Experience in third-party support environments.

  • Modules: FI-GL, FI-AP, FI-AR, FI-AA, FI-TV, CO, Tax
  • Tools: Smartsheet, Jira, ServiceNow
  • Reporting: SAP SAF-T, Statutory Reports, e-Invoicing

Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the candidate, and alignment with labor market data and geographic location.
