Director of Engineering
About the Job
As Director of Engineering, you will be the most senior engineering leader on the team, reporting directly to the VP of Product & Engineering. You’ll own the technical health, delivery cadence, and team performance of Splitero’s engineering organization, spanning a Salesforce team, a product engineering team, and QA resources.
You'll lead the execution layer, partnering closely with a Lead Engineer (product) and a Manager of Engineering (Salesforce) who handle day-to-day technical work and team management, respectively. Your focus is on the bigger picture of setting engineering strategy, driving architectural decisions across our stack, managing our external vendor relationships, and acting as the connective tissue between engineering teams. You will drive AI-first engineering practices while ensuring team quality and velocity are monitored and maintained as we scale operations and technical verticals. You'll collaborate closely with product leadership as a genuine thought partner who understands that great technology is built around user problems and business impact, not just tickets in a queue.
At Splitero, we move fast, and the ideal candidate thrives in that environment. You are someone who can bring structure without slowing momentum, understands how to balance the trade-offs between engineering excellence and best-in-class user experiences, and measures success by what ships and what it does for the business.
Responsibilities:
- Engineering Strategy & Delivery
- Own delivery accountability across the external and internal engineering teams. Maintaining a unified view of progress, risks, and dependencies.
- Drive the engineering roadmap in partnership with product, ensuring technical investments align with company objectives.
- Drive architectural decisions across the full stack: consumer-facing React applications, API layers, Salesforce integrations, and data infrastructure
- Optimize and evolve shared processes across internal and external teams: sprint cadences, quality standards, retrospectives, and a single source of truth for delivery status
- External Team & Vendor Management
- Own the end-to-end vendor relationship with Splitero's external engineering partners to drive continued improvement while maintaining standards across teams.
- Further strengthen the integration between contracted teams so all engineers operate as part of Splitero, not apart from it.
- Leadership & Team Development
- Coach and develop two senior direct reports, helping them grow as leaders while maintaining high performance in their domains.
- Provide clear upward communication to the VP of Product & Engineering, synthesizing status, risk, and strategic recommendations across the full org.
- Partner with People Operations on hiring strategy, org design, and workforce planning as the team scales
- Foster a culture of engineering excellence, continuous improvement, and constructive accountability
- Technical Oversight
- Evaluate and approve architectural proposals from internal and external teams, ensuring consistency, scalability, and maintainability.
- Own the technical integration layer between Salesforce and the core web platform — data sync patterns, API integrations, and shared infrastructure.
- Stay current on emerging technologies (particularly AI tooling) and recommend adoption where it improves velocity, quality, or competitive positioning.
- Ensure compliance with security, data privacy, and regulatory requirements relevant to financial and real estate data.

About You
- 10+ years in software engineering with 4+ years in engineering management, including experience managing managers or senior technical leads.
- Strong technical knowledge across Martech, go-to-market, product, and Salesforce-oriented engineering teams and tech-stacks.
- Working knowledge of modern web technologies: React, TypeScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and cloud deployment platforms. You must be able to evaluate architectural proposals and identify risk.
- Familiarity with Salesforce platform architecture at the integration level, including APIs, data sync tools, and middleware patterns.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills; able to partner closely with product and marketing teams without owning the functions directly.
- Familiarity with AI/ML platforms and practical applications of LLMs in product and engineering workflows.
- Track record at a startup or growth-stage company (sub-300 employees), comfortable operating in fast-moving environments where priorities shift.
- Excellent communicator up and down the org — synthesizing complex engineering status into clear executive updates while shielding teams from unnecessary noise.
- Demonstrated experience managing an external or outsourced engineering team.
Preferred:
- Experience in fintech, proptech, or real estate technology — particularly products handling sensitive financial data or consumer lending.
- Track record scaling an engineering org from ~10 to ~25 people, including hiring pipelines, onboarding, and evolving team structures.

About Us
Millions of homeowners in today’s economy are sitting on substantial home equity they are unable to access due to rising interest rates and strict qualification requirements of traditional lenders. That means millions of homeowners can’t convert their hard-earned equity into cash to pay off debt, start a home renovation, or pad their retirement to better their lives.
Splitero co-founders Michael Gifford and David Zvaifler witnessed the problem firsthand throughout their real estate careers. They set out to create a win-win product that could help those homeowners access their home equity but not make monthly payments like traditional financing options. And thus, Splitero was born.

- Premium Healthcare - We offer comprehensive healthcare plans for you and your family, which employees are eligible for on their first day.
- Flexible PTO and Parental Leave - We offer a generous PTO and encourage employees to take time off to recharge. We're proud to offer a parental leave policy that allows you to welcome your new addition without worry.
