New Grad Veterinarian

Chicago, IL

2026 & 2027 New Grads Welcome | Structured Mentorship | Urgent Care + General Practice

Your first year shouldn’t mean getting thrown into the deep end. At Sploot, new graduates in Chicago start with CAMP (Coaching And Mentorship Program), a structured, one-on-one mentorship pathway that builds the clinical skills, confidence, and efficiency to practice independently, with a fully staffed nursing team and experienced doctors beside you every step of the way.

What Makes Sploot Different

  • A primary mentor for questions, feedback, and support throughout the program
  • A guided curriculum with knowledge and skills checks that adapts to your goals and the areas where you want the most experience
  • Experience across multiple Sploot hospitals, learning from a variety of DVMs
  • Highly skilled nursing team with up to a 3:1 nurse-to-DVM ratio
  • Strong pre-visit triage so you walk into the exam room prepared
  • No non-compete contracts — stay because you love it here

Your Path to Independent Practice

  • CAMP (first 6 weeks): Paired one-on-one each shift with a senior DVM seeing the same schedule, learning the full scope of DVM responsibilities.
  • Continued mentorship: Protected learning blocks built into your schedule taper as your confidence and caseload grow
  • 3-month evaluation: Once you’ve graduated from CAMP, a formal evaluation of your progress in clinical decision-making, case management, efficiency, client communication, medical records, and nurse delegation

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • DVM/VMD graduate, licensed (or eligible) in Illinois — fourth-year students are encouraged to apply
  • Excited to learn, comfortable asking questions, and open to regular feedback
  • A collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and values a great work culture
  • Bonus Points: previous experience as a veterinary technician or assistant, interest in surgery and dentistry, and excitement to grow with Sploot into a leadership role

The Perks of the Pack

  • $130,000 starting base salary on a 4x10 schedule during CAMP
  • ProSal model with 20–22% production once you graduate from CAMP
  • Sign-on and relocation bonuses available
  • 100% employer-paid medical insurance, plus dental, vision, and short-term disability options
  • 401(k) with 4% match
  • Up to 120 hours of PTO (increasing with tenure) plus 20 hours of holiday leave
  • Up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave
  • Unlimited CE reimbursement, up to 5 CE days per year, and $2,000 annually for CE travel
  • Full coverage of licensing, DEA, liability, and professional memberships
  • Free Employee Assistance Program (EAP) with mental health, legal, and financial counseling for you and your household
  • Employee Pet Benefits to make sure your furry friends are covered
