SEO Scholars is a free, eight-year, academic program that transforms public high school students in New York City, San Francisco, North Carolina, and Miami into college graduates. SEO Scholars successfully educates and mentors students to and through college. 100% of Scholars are accepted into four-year colleges, 85% of Scholars graduate with a Bachelor’s degree, and 80% are first-generation college graduates. POSITION OVERVIEW
The Site Assistant support in the execution of SEO Scholars’ Summer Academy operations including technology maintenance and troubleshooting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Site Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of our technology-driven educational environment. Your responsibilities will include:
- Executing morning set-up for Saturday Academy, including check-in materials and program supplies.
- Facilitating the scholar check-in process, including efficiently utilizing attendance tracking systems to accurately record and report student attendance, absences, and tardies.
- Overseeing distribution of breakfast, snacks, and lunches for all scholars.
- Managing the distribution of technology (laptops, headphones, hotspots, etc.) to students and instructors, maintaining accurate records of permanent and/or borrowed devices and other SEO owned equipment.
- Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving Chromebook issues reported by students, promptly ensuring optimal functionality and reporting to SEO IT if devices are not meeting that expectation.
- Providing technical support for on-site A/V equipment (projectors, sound systems, and related components) used by instructors, ensuring classrooms operate smoothly without technical challenges.
- Overseeing program site cleanliness and maintenance.
- Supporting end-of-day closing procedures, including moving program materials to storage, and replenishing snacks and supplies.
- Contributing to the overall production of program operations by executing general program support, including delivering materials to classes, providing technology support, and executing other necessary errands.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Excellent organizational skills, detail orientation, and ability to multitask and handle changing priorities.
- Sound judgment, maturity, and ability to communicate and serve as a role model to high school students.
- Highly resourceful and solutions-oriented with the ability to diagnose issues and ensure timely problem resolution.
- Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong team player, capable of collaborating effectively with colleagues and educators to ensure the smooth functioning of the program.
- Move, lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds to shoulder height.
Preferred:
- An avid interest in technology or computer science, or an ambition to pursue a future role in the field of information technology.
- Demonstrated proficiency in working with various technology tools including Google Workspace, ChromeOS, Chromebooks, barcode scanners, classroom A/V equipment, and other technology.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
This position averages 32-40 hours per week. The compensation listed reflects what SEO believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and SEO reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time.
This position is benefits ineligible in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
