Finance Engineer
SPRCHRGR (pronounced "supercharger") is a professional services consultancy providing highly skilled team members across a variety of complementary disciplines. We like to say, “cut out the vowels, get there faster!” because we prioritize creativity, efficiency, and performance in our work, and we have fun doing it.
Our exceptional staff + innovative approach set us apart from stuffy traditional accountancies and commoditized outsourced bookkeeping agencies. We think differently about our work supporting high-growth startups, forward-thinking SMBs, and nonprofits located all across the US.
We specialize in cutting-edge technology and partner with dynamic businesses across diverse industries. Our team culture emphasizes collaboration, learning, and process-driven efficiency.
We're looking for someone who reads a trial balance and writes software. You'll build the client-facing financial tools for our fractional CFO firm: interactive dashboards and forecasting models, AI assistants that answer finance questions from live accounting data, and automations that take real recurring work off our clients' plates. We're small, we move fast, and we build our own tools instead of buying and configuring someone else's platform.
Who we are
SPRCHRGR combines executive financial leadership, fractional CFO work and controllership with data, systems integration and workflow automation. Our clients run $1 million to $50 million in revenue and get a white-glove build, not a template. We're small, we move fast, and we build our own tools (when it makes sense) instead of buying and configuring someone else's platform.
What you'll do
- Build and own our client dashboards. Interactive financial models delivered as web apps, with scenario sliders, drill-down tables, and Excel exports a client's own finance lead can audit.
- Build AI automations. Small, versioned automations that do one job properly, like turning a client's billing spreadsheet into reconciled QuickBooks invoices with built-in approval gates.
- Get the data in yourself. Write the database queries behind our reporting and connect them to live client accounting data. Our VP of Technology owns the platform and will hand you the tools and procedures to work independently, not a ticket queue.
- Be the person we trust when two numbers disagree. Work discrepancies to a documented answer, and know a genuine variance from two figures that were never comparable.
- Teach the rest of us. Help our accountants and operators build their own tools instead of depending on you for every one.
- Work directly with clients. Meet (virtually) with key client stakeholders to work out what they need, then build it. No layer in between, although you'll have full access to collaborate with other accounting + finance experts within our firm.
Who you are
You have both halves. Finance + Engineering.
- Finance: real depth in accounting, financial statements, month-end close, receivables and payables, reconciliation, how a general ledger actually works. CPA or CMA is a strong signal; demonstrated judgment matters more.
- Building: you write and maintain real code and real database queries. Our VP of Engineering partners with you to architect, maintain, and enhance the secure data warehouses, APIs, and hosted web app platform underneath. You can take a system with wrong or missing documentation, work out what it actually does, and build against reality. You've built AI tools, not just used them.
Minimum requirements
- Bachelor's degree with a focus in Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 10+ years of combined experience across accounting or finance and software or systems development.
- CPA or CMA preferred, not required.
- Proficiency in SQL preferred, not required.
- Experience with at least one accounting system in depth, such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or Dynamics.
- Clear and concise communication, both written and verbal.
- Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment.
- A dedicated workspace and access to reliable, secure, high-speed internet.
- An unwavering commitment to confidentiality.
- Based in the United States
- Embrace SPRCHRGR's Core Values.
What this job isn't
- Not a reporting role. If you just want to produce monthly financial packages, this is the wrong job.
- Not a coordinator between finance and engineering. You build.
- Not a management role in year one.
- Not a place to learn accounting on the job.
Compensation and benefits
- Fully Remote: Work from home with a structured schedule.
- Career Growth: Gain hands-on mentoring and opportunities to work directly with our Founder & CEO.
- Team-Oriented Environment: Collaborate with Software Engineers, Sr. Controllers, CFOs, and Accounting Managers to synthesize bespoke solutions for our clients.
- Competitive pay: $150,000 - $180,000 Base Salary, DOE.
- Phantom Equity: Eligible for consideration after your first year.
- Bonus: Annual performance-based bonus compensation plan.
- 401k: Up to a 4% match and no vesting period.
- Benefits: Customizable options.
What will make you stand out
Send us something you built: a repository, a working file, or a written account of an automation you shipped end to end, with the before-and-after time it took. That matters more to us than a cover letter. If your best example is client work you can't share, tell us what it did and how you'd rebuild it! bcarotta@sprchrgr.com
