About this Role

We’re looking for a talented Senior Platform Engineer to join our Data/Infrastructure Team. The Data/Infrastructure Team is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the cloud platform that powers our core systems, ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of our services. As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will take ownership of the platform’s infrastructure, driving initiatives to optimize performance, enhance automation, and ensure seamless deployment processes.

Your work will directly impact our ability to deliver high-performing, resilient, and secure platforms, enabling our teams to build innovative solutions that meet the needs of our customers and drive the growth of our business.

Your Impact

  • Led successful upgrades of core infrastructure tools and components, driving operational efficiency and system resilience.
  • Maintained data integrity and security across databases, safeguarding client trust and ensuring the accuracy of insights generated by our platform.
  • Enhanced platform scalability and performance by designing and developing robust, high-performing backend systems that drive business growth.
  • Provided strategic technical leadership, guiding teams through critical decisions while ensuring adherence to industry best practices.
  • Partnered closely with product teams as a data domain expert to drive the development of critical product features, shaping the future of our offerings.

Your Strengths

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on platform, backend systems, data infrastructure, and distributed computing.
  • Experience with AWS services such as EC2, EKS, S3, RDS, Lambda, etc; Experience with AWS networking such as VPC. Familiar with AWS IAM and security best practices. Experience managing AWS resources using IaC (Infrastructure as Code) tools.
  • Experience managing and scaling Kubernetes clusters in production environments. Strong knowledge of container orchestration, service mesh such as Istio, and Kubernetes. networking. Experience with Kubernetes security (RBAC, network policies, pod security). Understanding of Helm charts for application deployments and management.
  • Proficiency with GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD tools for automating builds, testing, and deployments.
  • Experience designing infrastructure with high availability and fault tolerance in mind. Ability to ensure platform resilience and recovery in case of failure or outage.
  • Experience in optimizing cloud resource utilization (auto-scaling, spot instances, etc.) Proficiency in tuning Kubernetes clusters and cloud resources for cost and performance efficiency.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Go, or Bash for automation and tooling development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Quick learner, good team player.

Bonus Competencies, Skills, Experiences

  • Hands-on experience with CDKTF or Terraform for defining cloud infrastructure. Experience with GitOps tools like Flux for continuous deployment.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining monitoring stacks with Prometheus, Grafana, and Loki. Ability to set up alerts, dashboards, and logging systems for infrastructure and applications.
  • Hands-on experience with security compliance and audits in cloud environments such as SOC2.
  • Experience in low latency and high volume data stores and platforms is a big plus (experience with databases, APIs, API servers).

Employee Pay Disclosure

The base salary range for this full-time position is $180,000 - $210,000 + Equity + Benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all locations (San Francisco, CA; New York, NY). Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
