Lead Engineer: Hardware–Software Integration

We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Engineer to head the Hardware-Software Integration efforts for our cutting-edge embedded systems. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring seamless integration between hardware, firmware, and software, collaborating with global teams across the US and China, and managing a local team of engineers. Your leadership will ensure high-quality, end-to-end testing, focusing on the user experience and ensuring optimal product functionality for our hardware products, including 3D printers and post-processing accessories.

The Requirements:

  • 8 + years of experience in quality engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role focused on hardware-software integration.
  • Deep knowledge of embedded systems and real-time hardware-software integration.

  •  

    Proven experience in hardware-software-firmware testing for complex electromechanical products (e.g., 3D printers, post-processing devices).

  •  

    Strong understanding of embedded systems, including microcontrollers, sensors, and communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART).

  •  

    Experience in creating and executing test strategies for hardware and firmware systems.

  •  

    Knowledge of testing frameworks for embedded systems (e.g., Robot Framework, VectorCAST, LabVIEW).

  •  

    Experience in programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++) and test automation for hardware-software environments.

  •  

    Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially in working with global teams.

  •  

    Experience in Agile methodologies and a strong focus on continuous integration and delivery.

  •  

    Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.

  •  

    Ability to work effectively across multiple time zones.

  •  

    Comfortable working onsite with teams.

  •  

    Strong analytical skills, with a focus on problem-solving and attention to detail.

  •  

    Onsite availability with a flexible work schedule (4 pm - 1 am, with a 1-hour break).

The Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of test engineers, overseeing hardware-software-firmware integration efforts.
  • Mentor and guide the team to ensure timely delivery and high-quality testing.
  • Foster communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams in China and the US.
  • Design and implement test strategies, frameworks, and processes for hardware, software, and firmware integration.
  • Drive end-to-end testing efforts to ensure seamless interaction between all system components, focusing on 3D printers and post-processing accessories.
  • Collaborate closely with development teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex integration issues.
  • Drive test automation efforts, selecting appropriate frameworks for hardware-software-firmware interaction.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance testing efficiency and coverage.
  • Regularly report on test progress, defect metrics, and system performance to leadership teams.
  • Maintain and update detailed documentation for all testing procedures, integration results, and lessons learned.
  • Serve as the primary integration point for local teams in Hyderabad and global teams in China and the US, ensuring smooth project execution.
  • Liaise with product managers, hardware, software, and firmware engineers to align testing activities with product requirements.
  • Identify, track, and manage defects related to embedded systems, ensuring timely resolution and conducting thorough hardware-software integration and regression testing as needed.

 

 

Work Location - Hyderabad (onsite only)

Work Time - 4pm to 1am
