Freight Drivers/Movers
Reports To: The Freight Drivers/Mover will report to the Client Services Supervisor, Client Services Manager, or equivalent leadership.
Job Overview:
The Freight Drivers/Mover provides exceptional delivery and courier services. This position receives orders from a centralized dispatch, retrieves parcels/mail from different local offices, and then delivers the parcels/mail in a timely and safe manner. The position will also serve as a backup to the front or back of office functions.
Overall, this position continuously offers the highest level of service to all client and SPS employees while maintaining a professional image of the company by providing prompt, courteous and efficient service.
What you will be doing:
- Administer shipping and receiving processes as per site type with a main focus of transporting locally mail and received packages via small box truck, jeep, or van to designated areas or secure lockers..
- Process incoming tracked mail using client internal tracking & labeling system. Ensure a chain of custody is maintained for all inbound, tracked mail, packages, and freight.
- Operate internal collection and delivery from/to site and unstaffed building docks, as well as collection and delivery from/to lockers and designated offices or individuals. Individuals can also drop or collect items from/to central shipping locations.
- Log and process in client preferred shipping tool.
- Collect items outbound shipping items from specified locations and deliver them to the shipping team for processing.
- Provide recipients with a method to track and manage the delivery of their items.
What we need from you:
- H.S. Diploma (or equivalent) required.
- 3 years of experience working in a mail facility, freight or moving company, warehouse or similar background. Preferred qualification is to have some professional driving or courier service experience.
- A valid driver’s license—candidates must be at least 25 years of age to follow fleet insurance requirements with a driver’s license being current for the last 5 years.
- A clean driving record.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with the following: scheduling or calendar software, logistics tracking software (experience with BearTracks is a plus), database software, Numbers or Excel, and Pages or Word
- Excellent customer service skills
- Effective organizational, communication, interpersonal, and time management skills
- Material handling skills, including ability to use motorized and manual equipment such as forklifts (in locations where they are needed), pallet jacks, and hand trucks • Ability to perform the following types of physical activities: lift up to 50 pounds, push/pull to move equipment, bend/stoop/squat/kneel, and reach above shoulders
- Background and experience working in a warehouse or loading dock environment, with exposure to varied weather conditions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Good organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of MFD equipment.
- Requires knowledge and understanding of shipping/receiving procedures and ability to comprehend instructions.
- Possesses the ability to work independently and can complete projects.
- Ability to determine the correct method and packing material and validate packing slips for accuracy of incoming and outgoing materials.
Physical Demands:
- Approximately 50% of the time this position requires the below physical demands.
- Fine and/or gross motor skills, including the ability to grasp, lift and/or carry or otherwise move packages on a standard wheeled cart with a load capacity of 60 lbs.
- Ability to walk, bend, kneel, stand, and/or sit for a long time.
- Manual dexterity required for operating office machinery (phone, copy machines, binding equipment, etc.).
- Ability to lift or move 40 lbs. or greater frequently.
- Physical and mental ability to operate a standard company motor vehicle.
Travel: Local travel is required using company vehicles
