Job Title: Human Resources Manager

Reports To: The Human Resources Manager will report to the Vice President of Human Resources, Vice President of Operations, Chief Human Resources Officer, or equivalent leadership.

 

Job Overview:

The Human Resources Manager will serve as a Human Resources Business partner to their respective Client OU. This position acts as trusted advisor and coach to help fulfill the business objectives through human capital and people leadership and ultimately be responsible for implementing and supporting SPS HR programs, processes and initiatives.

 

This position facilitates the planning, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of their respective Client Operating Unit, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organization’s mission and talent strategy.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

 

  • Operational and General Human Resources Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with senior leadership to understand the organization’s goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
  • Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization’s human resource compliance and strategy needs.
  • Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
  • Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization’s human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
  • Monitors and ensures the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
  • Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for OU staff.
  • Performs other duties as required.

 

Essential Job Functions:

 

  • Serve as the primary HR business partner to the Client Operating Unit developing HR strategies, performing needs assessments and designing HR solutions.
  • Responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of all HR programs and services across the Client Operating Unit to include Talent Acquisition and Onboarding, Talent Management & Employee Development, Change Management, Compensation, Performance Management, Workforce Planning, Internal Communications, & Employee Engagement.
  • Responsible for the HR results across the Client Operating Unit including associated financial results.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with key HR client to ensure HR programs are well coordinated and business needs are met.
  • Develop proposals and recommendations to resolve strategic people issues affecting the Client Operating Unit.
  • Serve as an HR advisor to the Client Operating Unit employees by providing coaching, feedback, counseling, and mentoring as needed.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the legal requirements related to day to day management of employees and ensure regulatory compliance with all legal requirements across the Client Operating Unit.
  • Anticipate people related Client Operating Unit needs and take the initiative to identify and execute effective solutions.
  • Design and implement employee retention strategies to minimize unwanted turnover, particularly within the critical strategic roles and specialty skill areas across the Client Operating Unit.
  • Be highly visible within the various Client Operating Unit facilities and engage frequently with hourly and salaried employees in support of building a trusting, transparent and constructive work environment.
  • Support and Provide coaching and feedback to direct and in-direct reports to support their growth and development positioning them for career advancement within SPS.
  • Responsible for providing overarching support to the respective OU sites for employee relations activities, day-to-day employee issues, and employee investigations.
  • Utilize analytical skills to evaluate data sets and identify solutions that drive successful business decisions and initiatives.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in high-level human resources management.
  • Experience supervising and developing staff.
  • Experience implementing strategies and systems for talent management, compensation and benefits and HR technology (to include HRIS).
  • Strong business acumen and leadership abilities.
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and other compliance issues.
  • Ability to listen and probe to understand underlying needs and/or root cause of an issue.
  • Ability to provide thoughtful, progressive and strategic guidance.
  • Expertise in analysis, critical decision making, project management, and process improvement.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills, including proficiency in developing and delivering presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate and solve practical problems.
  • Ability to identify, influence, and collaborate with key stakeholders to achieved desired organizational outcomes.
  • Outstanding judgement, sensitivity, and high discretion.
  • Experience working in an eye care or medical group preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HR system applications (HRIS/ATS).
  • Must be able to travel to satellite office locations as needed.
  • Required to maintain an overall professional appearance and attitude.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures required.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Fine and/or gross motor skills, including the ability to grasp, lift and/or carry or otherwise move packages on a standard wheeled cart with a load capacity of 25 lbs.
  • Ability to walk, bend, kneel, stand, and/or sit for an extended period of time.
  • Manual dexterity required for operating office machinery (phone, copy machines, binding equipment, etc.).
  • Physically able to talk on the phone and input data simultaneously.
  • Must be able to speak clearly in small and large group settings.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus and ability to match or may include detection of differences between colors, including shades of color and brightness.

 

Travel: Some travel is required for this position. Approximately up to 25%.

Pay Range

$90,000 - $100,000 USD
