Overview of Job/Team

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Revenue Accountant will ensure the accuracy and compliance of revenue-related financial transactions in accordance with ASC606 and other accounting standards. This role will be primarily responsible for leading revenue recognition & related functions, supporting various accounting operations, and cross-functional support of RevOps and Finance teams. This position is located in Austin area with hybrid in-office/remote work expectations.

What You'll Do:

  • Record and report revenue transactions in compliance with ASC 606 (Revenue from Contracts with Customers) and SaaS-specific accounting standards.
  • Review and analyze customer contracts, including subscription agreements, software licenses, and professional services, to ensure proper revenue recognition.
  • Work with the RevOps, Finance, and Legal teams to review pricing structures, contract modifications, and amendments impacting revenue recognition.
  • Monitor deferred revenue and unbilled receivables, ensuring proper tracking and reporting.
  • Prepare and maintain revenue schedules and reports
  • Perform month-end and quarter-end revenue close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and deferred revenue analysis.
  • Review and analyze revenue data for accuracy and completeness
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely revenue recognition
  • Assist in revenue forecasting and analysis, partnering with FP&A to align revenue expectations with financial models.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies
  • Continuously update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities within revenue accounting.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls around revenue recognition
  • Support the Accounting & Finance team in various operational & strategic goals

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
  • 3-5 years of experience accounting experience, with 2+ years in SaaS or Software company 
  • Strong knowledge of ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition), including multiple-element arrangements, contract modifications, and deferred revenue.
  • Experience working with SaaS business models, subscription billing, and usage-based pricing.
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex revenue recognition rules in a high-growth SaaS environment.
  • Strong technical accounting skills and experience analyzing customer contracts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred), Salesforce, and revenue automation tools.
  • Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, data modeling).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Nice to Have

  • CPA or public accounting experience
  • Previous participation in external audit 
  • Experience with Floqast
  • Experience in forecasting and other finance related functions
