
Creative Editor
As a Creative Editor at Journey, you will play a key role in shaping the visual and narrative identity of our films. More than simply assembling footage, you will craft stories with precision, intention, and a strong editorial sensibility. Working closely with directors and project teams, you will ensure that each edit is visually striking, emotionally resonant, and aligned with the creative vision. You have a deep appreciation for film, design, and culture, with an instinct for what’s current and what’s next. Your work is defined by a strong aesthetic perspective, an acute sense of rhythm and pacing, and an uncompromising attention to detail. You take pride in the way you cut—knowing that the right edit can transform a sequence from functional to unforgettable.
Main Responsibilities
- Shape compelling visual narratives through sophisticated and intentional editing
- Collaborate with directors, creatives, and producers to refine and elevate projects
- Communicate effectively with project teams to align on delivery expectations
- Maintain a sharp, contemporary editorial style—staying ahead of trends in film, design, and culture
- Bring technical expertise in editing software (Premiere, Resolve, After Effects, etc.) while continuously pushing creative boundaries
- Maintain a structured and efficient workflow, ensuring organized asset management, version control, and clear communication across teams
- Review and organize all footage into a logical sequence
- Work with sound designers and mixers to ensure high-quality audio that complements the visuals
- Troubleshoot technical issues that arise during editing
- Output formats that align with the project's technical requirements
Technical Ability
- Ability to use their skills to tell a story effectively
- Control the pacing of the film to keep the audience engaged
- Strong understanding of visual effects and being able to use them effectively
- A strong understanding of sound design and be able to use it to enhance the film
- Ability to use a variety of transitions and effects to enhance the storytelling and create a polished final product
About You
- 3+ years of experience in the film/creative industry
- Experience using Adobe Premiere
- Creative vision and ability to use skills to create a compelling final product
- Intellectual and creative rigor, with a passion for professional development
- Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
- Ability to understand conflicting viewpoints and resolve issues
- Strong attention to detail and high quality standards
- Enthusiasm for learning and sharing with team-mates
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively
- Confident, decisive, and skilled in problem-solving
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
- Stay up-to-date on the latest editing techniques and technologies
Beneficial Skills
- Experience using Davinci Resolve
- Experience in the VFX industry
- Understanding of color space and workflows
- Experience using f-track or any project management software
- Experience in the built environment
- Capability to reconstruct EDLs or modify software files to Resolve/Premiere
Salary Pay Range
£35,000 - £50,000 GBP
