
Visual Merchandising & Store Design Manager
Squishable is a close-knit team of designers, artists, pop culture-fanatics, and lovers of all things adorable. Together we create the cutest, cuddliest, (and sometimes downright unusual) plush and lifestyle products in the world. Our offices are in a sunny Soho loft in NYC, and downtown Washington DC.
Job Summary:
We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented individual to help make Squishable retail spaces engaging, cohesive, and fun. The Visual Merchandising & Store Design Associate supports the development and execution of in-store visuals, layouts, and seasonal merchandising strategies to elevate the customer experience across our retail locations. This role is hands-on and collaborative, working closely with the Art & Design team, Store Operations, and external vendors to bring the Squishable brand to life in-store. The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of relevant experience in visual merchandising or store design—retail experience is required, and toy or specialty retail experience is a plus!
MUST BE comfortable with travel. This role includes approximately 50% travel to Squishable stores across the United States.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in the creation and rollout of seasonal visual merchandising guidelines, floor sets, and in-store directives.
- Develop and execute store layouts, signage, fixture placement, and graphics to maintain a consistent brand message.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to coordinate and implement signage, fixtures, props, and merchandising installations.
- Lead and support visual merchandising projects, including new store openings, store revamps, and seasonal refreshes.
- Provide visual training and guidance to store staff to ensure consistency across all locations.
- Monitor product presentation and store execution, suggesting improvements to drive customer engagement and sales.
- Stay current on retail design and merchandising trends to continuously evolve Squishable’s in-store experience.
Requirements:
- 1–3 years of experience in visual merchandising, retail design, or a related field (toy or specialty retail experience strongly preferred)
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Google Suite.
- Knowledge of SketchUp or similar design software is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, creative environment and adapt to evolving priorities.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% to support stores across the U.S.
Salary: $75,000-$85,000
