AM: Client Strategies Associate
Stone Ridge is a $39B diversified financial services firm that creates innovative capital markets solutions through a group of industry-leading operating companies. Founded in 2012 and based in New York, we build businesses and investment strategies in markets where deep expertise, proprietary data, and disciplined execution can create lasting advantages.
We build products we want for ourselves and invest in all our strategies alongside our partners. Everything we do—from how we approach problems to how we work with one another—is grounded in our core values: Focus. Be Humble. Be Kind.
Why Stone Ridge?
Stone Ridge is intentionally flat, meritocratic, and demanding. Ideas matter more than titles, and people are trusted with meaningful responsibility. The bargain is simple: you get to work here, and in return, you commit to keep learning, keep improving, and striving to be the best in the industry at what you do.
Stone Ridge Asset Management develops differentiated alternative investment strategies designed to provide valuable sources of return and diversification beyond traditional stocks and bonds.
The Opportunity
Stone Ridge is seeking an Institutional Coverage professional to join the Client Strategies Team (CST) and build out coverage of institutional relationships across private equity funds, family offices, and tactical allocators. The person will be primarily responsible for owning and growing an institutional pipeline from prospecting through onboarding, representing Stone Ridge’s strategies to sophisticated allocators, and shaping how the firm approaches an increasingly competitive institutional landscape. The role sits within CST, works closely with Portfolio Management teams on strategy positioning, and partners with Marketing, Legal, Compliance, and Operations across the relationship lifecycle.
This is a distinctive opportunity to join a small, entrepreneurial team with direct, regular exposure to senior leadership and portfolio managers across every strategy the firm runs, and real latitude to shape how Stone Ridge prospects, pitches, and grows in the institutional market rather than executing an existing playbook. The role is well suited to someone who is entrepreneurial and intellectually curious, and who enjoys building relationships with sophisticated investors.
What You’ll Do
- Own and grow a pipeline of institutional relationships — PEFs, family offices, tactical allocators — from initial prospecting through due diligence and onboarding
- Partner directly with Portfolio Management teams to stay fluent in each strategy’s mechanics and translate that expertise into credible institutional positioning
- Represent Stone Ridge at industry conferences and events, building the firm’s network and profile within the institutional investor community
- Develop and pressure-test new approaches to sourcing and distribution, identifying underpenetrated segments and proposing go-to-market strategies for existing and future products
- Prepare and deliver client-ready materials, from tailored one-pagers to full pitch presentations, in partnership with Marketing and Product Specialist colleagues
- Manage the full relationship lifecycle, including ongoing servicing, portfolio updates, and coordination with Legal, Compliance, and Operations
- Maintain rigorous tracking of the prospect and client pipeline and contribute market intelligence to the broader CST and Portfolio Management teams
What You Bring
Required
- 5+ years of experience in institutional sales, investor relations, or business development within asset management or a closely related field
- Demonstrated ability to distill complex, uncorrelated investment strategies into clear, compelling narratives for sophisticated audiences, in writing and in person
- Strong grasp of financial markets and alternative investment structures, with genuine curiosity about how the firm’s strategies work
- Track record of proposing new strategies and taking ownership of how coverage is built, rather than following an established process
- Highly organized, with the attention to detail required to manage a large and growing pipeline across a diverse set of client types
- Willingness and enthusiasm to travel regularly for client meetings and industry events
Preferred
- Existing relationships or credibility with private equity funds, family offices, tactical allocators, or other institutional investors
What Success Looks Like
- Builds and independently manages a qualified institutional pipeline, with clear line of sight to signed commitments
- Earns the trust of Portfolio Management teams to represent strategies accurately and handle sophisticated investor questions without support
- Becomes a recognized presence at industry conferences and within the institutional investor community
- Contributes new sourcing or distribution ideas that the team adopts into its go-to-market approach
