As part of our commitment to efficiency and innovation, we are expanding our team to include a Senior Controls Automation Engineer who will play a critical role in the development, implementation, and optimization of control systems in our production processes.

The Senior Controls Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining control systems that enhance the automation of textile manufacturing processes at SRTX. Reporting to the VP of Automation, this role will work closely with the Senior Automation Engineer to integrate and optimize controls for a variety of automated equipment and machinery. The Senior Controls Engineer will focus on developing and fine-tuning control systems, including PLCs, HMI interfaces, sensors, and electrical components, ensuring that production lines run smoothly and efficiently.

This role provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to a growing team and help shape the future of automation at SRTX by improving system performance and ensuring robust and reliable control operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Control System Design & Implementation:
    • Design and implement control systems for automated machinery, ensuring precise control and coordination of production equipment.
    • Develop and program PLCs, HMI interfaces, and control algorithms to automate manufacturing processes and integrate them into existing systems.
    • Work closely with the Senior Automation Engineer to design control systems for mechanical and electrical automation projects.
  • System Integration & Optimization:
    • Ensure seamless integration of control systems with existing machinery and equipment, focusing on improving efficiency, productivity, and product quality.
    • Fine-tune control parameters to optimize performance, adjust for production variability, and minimize system downtime.
    • Collaborate with the engineering and production teams to ensure automation systems are properly aligned with operational goals.
  • Troubleshooting & Maintenance:
    • Provide technical support for troubleshooting control systems, resolving issues related to PLCs, sensors, actuators, and other control components.
    • Implement preventive maintenance strategies for control systems to minimize downtime and improve overall system reliability.
    • Work with maintenance and engineering teams to ensure control systems are properly maintained and updated when necessary.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Collaborate closely with the Senior Automation Engineer to ensure the control systems align with the broader automation strategy and technical goals.
    • Work with production, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure the control systems support efficient operations and meet all safety standards.
    • Stay up to date with new control technologies and automation trends, advising the VP of Automation on potential upgrades and improvements.
  • Documentation & Compliance:
    • Create and maintain documentation for control systems, including wiring diagrams, software programs, and system configurations.
    • Ensure all control systems meet safety and regulatory standards, particularly related to electrical systems and automation equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5-8 years of experience in control system design and programming, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC programming (e.g., Allen Bradley, Siemens), HMI development, and control system integration.
  • Experience with control systems used in automation equipment, including sensors, actuators, and motor control systems.
  • Hands-on experience in troubleshooting and maintaining automated control systems in a production environment.
  • Familiarity with process optimization, lean manufacturing, and predictive maintenance systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex technical issues under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
