Definition: This role is responsible for overseeing and managing all operations on the production floor. The primary duties include ensuring that manufacturing deadlines and performance metrics are consistently met. Additionally, this role involves effectively communicating business goals, programs, and processes across the entire shop floor, fostering alignment and collaboration among team members to achieve operational excellence.

Reports to: Director, Operations

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute schedules to meet deadlines and optimize resources.
  • Work with engineering, quality, and supply chain teams for smooth production flow.
  • Lead and mentor staff, fostering safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Track KPIs, report results, and improve efficiency by reducing costs and waste.
  • Ensure adherence to standards and resolve issues promptly.
  • Drive Lean initiatives and improve workflows to boost productivity.
  • Support hiring, diversity, and a positive workplace culture.
  • Align goals with other departments to maximize efficiency.
  • Promote environmental and ethical practices in operations.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, certifications, and internal policies.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management on production status and performance.

Essential Competencies

  • Over  5+ years of proven experience in a supervisory or managerial role within a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams at all levels.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities to balance competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in using software applications and production management tools to streamline operations and reporting.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, particularly under pressure.
  • In-depth knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and quality assurance standards in a manufacturing setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams while fostering a positive workplace culture.
  • Commitment to embracing and driving rapid change in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to analyze costs, budgets, and profitability.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experienced with international distribution and business development preferred.
  • Strong background within the Garment/Manufacturing/Production industries preferred.
  • Experience in a start-up environment is preferred.
