United States - Remote (California / Washington, D.C. preferred)

As a leader in Lawful and Location Intelligence, SS8 helps make societies safer. Our commitment is to extract, analyze, and visualize the critical intelligence that gives law enforcement, intelligence agencies, and emergency services the real-time insights that help save lives. Our high performance, flexible, and future-proof solutions also enable mobile network operators to achieve regulatory compliance with minimum disruption, time, and cost. SS8 is trusted by the largest government agencies, communications providers, and systems integrators globally.

Overview

We’re looking for a customer-facing Senior Solutions Engineer to support sales of SS8’s portfolio across Law Enforcement (LEA), Intelligence Community (IC), and Communications Service Providers (CSPs) across the APAC region. This role sits at the intersection of deep technical expertise and strategic sales—translating complex mission needs into deployable, scalable solutions.

As a highly skilled Senior Solutions Engineer, you will leverage your expertise to deliver pre-sales engineering support as a subject matter expert. This role involves extensive engagement with customers and partners, ensuring the highest technical and professional standards while upholding SS8’s customer-first approach. You will serve as the primary technical representative to customers, articulating SS8’s solution capabilities and playing a key role in influencing customer decisions and successful solution adoption.

You’ll partner closely with sales, product, and delivery teams to drive technical wins, shape customer architectures, and ensure SS8 solutions align with operational and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Sales & Solution Engineering

  • Lead technical discovery sessions to understand customer mission requirements across lawful intercept, location intelligence, and data analytics.
  • Represent SS8 and its partner ecosystem in designing and delivering end-to-end solutions tailored to customer and prospect requirements spanning telecom networks, data collection, mediation, analytics, and visualization platforms.
  • Own the technical sales cycle: architecture, solution positioning, demos, POCs, and RFP/RFI responses with innovative and differentiated approaches.
  • Translate vague “we need intel” asks into concrete system designs (and push back when needed).

Customer Engagement

  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to LEA, IC, and telecom stakeholders.
  • Present complex solutions clearly to both engineers and non-technical decision-makers.
  • Support customer workshops, technical deep dives, and executive briefings.
  • Bridge the gap between operational users and IT/network teams.

Architecture & Integration

  • Develop high-level and detailed architectures integrating SS8 solutions into existing customer environments.
  • Ensure alignment with telecom standards, lawful intercept frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure smooth transition from design to implementation.

Sales Support

  • Partner with account teams to develop winning strategies for new and existing opportunities.
  • Own creation of proposals, quotes, SOWs, and technical documentation.
  • Support competitive positioning and articulate differentiators.

Product & Feedback Loop

  • Provide structured feedback to product management on emerging trends, customer challenges, requirements analysis and field-driven insights based on field experience.
  • Influence product direction with real-world use cases and customer pain points.

Relevant Experience and Skills

Technical Expertise

  • 7+ years in solution and systems engineering, sales engineering, network engineering, or solution architecture.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and size high-capacity, high-performance, mission-critical systems.
  • Strong understanding of telecom network architectures and signaling protocols:
    • 3G, 4G LTE/EPC, and 5G Core
    • IMS, VoLTE, VoIP
    • IP networking (routing, switching, protocols)
  • Experience with lawful intercept frameworks and systems.
  • Solid understanding of data flows, packet capture, and network-based data collection.

Domain Knowledge

  • Experience supporting or working with:
    • Law Enforcement Agencies (LEA)
    • Intelligence Community (IC)
    • Telecommunications Service Providers (CSPs)
  • Exposure to OSINT, location intelligence, or analytics platforms is a strong plus.
  • Hands-on experience with virtualization and/or cloud-native environments.
  • Solid knowledge of databases and storage systems.
  • Understanding of compliance, regulatory, and legal considerations in telecom and surveillance environments.

Sales Engineering Skills

  • Proven ability to run technical sales cycles and close complex deals. Experience responding to RFPs/RFIs and building technical proposals.
  • Strong presentation and demo skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with significant experience engaging directly with customers.
  • Highly professional, detail-oriented, and analytical, with the ability to operate independently and take initiative.
  • Capable of contributing as a key member of the technical leadership team.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Ability to simplify complex systems without dumbing them down.
  • Comfortable pushing back on unrealistic customer expectations.
  • Strong communication across technical, operational, and executive audiences.
  • Self-driven, adaptable, and able to operate in ambiguous environments.

Nice-to-Have (but valuable)

  • Experience with big data platforms (Hadoop, Spark, Elasticsearch).

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
