Overview

We are seeking a proactive Business Development Associate to support growth across the U.S. Federal Government market — building customer relationships, qualifying opportunities, and managing assigned pursuits through SS8's sales process. The role reports into the VP of U.S. Government Sales and works closely with the senior solutions architect and channel leader, owning targeted/near-term opportunities while supporting the VP on larger strategic pursuits.

What You'll Do

  • Build relationships with federal mission users, program personnel, acquisition stakeholders, systems integrators, and partners; conduct targeted outreach to priority agencies.
  • Identify and qualify opportunities based on mission need, funding, acquisition timing, competitive position, and fit with SS8 capabilities; manage them through SS8's sales stages.
  • Build account maps and pursuit plans — stakeholders, milestones, deadlines, risks, next actions — and research agency priorities, budgets, contract vehicles, and competitors.
  • Support RFIs, RFPs, sources sought notices, and other procurement activities with customer context, competitive intelligence, and win themes; help with proposal schedules and submission readiness.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline data in Salesforce; deliver evidence-based updates in weekly reviews and escalate risks early.
  • Communicate customer and market intelligence across Sales, Product, Engineering, and Marketing; help prepare presentations and capability briefs; support handoffs from capture through delivery.

 Required Experience & Qualifications

  • 3–5 years in federal business development, government sales, capture support, contracting, or account management.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and manage opportunities across multiple stakeholders and deadlines.
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills; self-directed and detail-oriented.
  • Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM.
  • Working knowledge of the federal acquisition process (RFIs, RFPs, contract vehicles, budget cycles, systems integrators).
  • Ability to travel periodically and to obtain/maintain a U.S. Government security clearance if required.

 Nice to Have

  • Experience with federal law enforcement, homeland security, defense, intelligence, cybersecurity, or public-safety customers.
  • Experience building account/capture plans or supporting federal proposals.
  • Background in telecom, data analytics, location intelligence, or investigative platforms.
  • Existing federal or government-contracting network.
  • Current or prior U.S. Government security clearance.
