About the Role:
As a Stable Kernel Senior Business Analyst, your primary goal is to effectively communicate our clients’ requirements to our development team and ensure these projects meet our clients’ business goals. Your special blend of technical knowledge, problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills allow you to effectively work with our clients’ product owners to define the "why" and “how” behind some of their most innovative projects, including all aspects of building and support.
Senior Business Analysts report directly to our VP of Operations or a Principal Business Analyst. You may be classified as individual contributors or as people managers with individual contributor responsibilities.
Core Responsibilities Include:
- Technical Impact:
- Designing and implementing solutions with an eye to the growth of the product and team by improving the speed of future work and preserving optionality without unnecessary complications.
- Providing feedback that improves the overall design of solutions, defending the work against compromise and corner-cutting, and having the final say in backlog management.
- Utilizing advanced-level capabilities and supporting team members by crafting reusable solutions within the existing toolset.
- Understanding of web technologies (e.g. APIs, cloud infrastructure, basic web architectures, native vs. cross-platform mobile solutions, data structures, and databases).
- Business Alignment:
- Understanding the client’s business and goals and using them to improve the definition for your team’s projects.
- Identifying ways the team could provide better value for your clients across everything your team owns.
- Suggesting and delivering improvements based on your observations even when it is outside your team’s area of ownership.
- Facilitating team conversation to clearly identify gaps, risks, and assumptions to accurately estimate work.
- Extending the expectations of your role to business processes in order to identify underlying needs and opportunities.
- Understanding of the Product Owner role and responsibilities and having the ability to operate as one.
- Understanding of SK’s service offerings and cross-department capabilities.
- Identifying new organic growth opportunities with the client and engaging them in next steps.
- Supporting the statement of work process with the ability to craft sections of the SOW independently.
- Interacting with Others:
- Coordinating and collaborating with others outside of your team including product and design leadership.
- Influencing the roadmaps of other teams.
- Advising people across your VP-level organization.
- Assisting in the reporting of status for your project with the understanding of what each team member’s work status is.
- Autonomy & Ambiguity:
- Leading collaborative sessions with the project team and facilitating appropriate ceremonies as needed for team team collaboration.
- Integrating client feedback into product vision while managing expectations on feasibility.
- Working with the client to prioritize product backlog and representing their needs in planning sessions.
- Determining the most effective way to break down work for estimation and implementation by the team.
- Considering and planning around cross-team dependencies that showcases a strong organizational skillset, empowering effective prioritization of challenges and solutions.
- Succeeding with ambiguity by your ability to plan, structure, and execute complex solutions without much input.
- Leading Discovery sessions that inform product roadmap and decisions that are founded in data.
- Problem-Solving:
- Demonstrating a clear understanding of inductive and deductive reasoning skills when driving solutions for products.
- Identifying and solving high-priority, complex problems and distilling them into short and long term solutions quickly and effectively.
- Understanding of end-user and client goals to inform product direction.
- Recognizing and mitigating risk effectively as well as removing roadblocks.
- Anticipating future risks and working to remove them before problems arise.
- Navigating difficult situations by independently finding a way forward or escalating when necessary with a possible solution.
- Leadership:
- Taking ownership of internal projects to streamline team processes that assist with speeding up and/or simplifying the work.
- Driving best practices across your project and client program.
- Mentoring junior and intermediate colleagues and supporting their professional growth.
- Setting a positive example.
- Providing regular constructive feedback.
- Guiding less experienced colleagues through complex projects.
- Leading team learning sessions.
- Resolving conflicts.
- Demonstrating strong product leadership skills, including planning, delegating, and monitoring progress.
- Making critical decisions and driving deliverables to successful implementation.
- Representing the team in client conversations.
Intimate, Working Familiarity With:
- Familiarity with cloud, network, log, and application performance monitoring tools.
- Experience using API testing tools.
- Microsoft Office Suite
General Requirements:
- 5-8 years of experience as an analyst.
- Experience working in a consulting or professional services organization.
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or similar.
A Bit More Info:
Minimum Base Compensation: $110,000
This is a full-time position.
Stable Kernel operates a People Before Place Hybrid model, allowing most employees to choose where they can do their best work most days.
Travel may be associated with this role as it requires you to maintain an in-office presence in a hybrid capacity for regular in-person engagements for both clients and internal teams.
