The Opportunity
As a Growth Product Manager for ToolHive, you’ll lead efforts to amplify developer adoption and make ToolHive the default platform for building with MCP. The role focuses on driving top-of-funnel growth, boosting GitHub stars, contributor engagement, and downloads by designing scalable, community-powered growth strategies.
You’ll be hands-on in architecting compounding growth loops, refining onboarding flows, and building programs that welcome developers at every stage of their journey. This includes working side-by-side with engineering, design, marketing, and DevRel teammates to launch data-driven initiatives and champion a seamless developer experience.
You’ll also gather feedback and insights from the open-source ToolHive community and translate them into meaningful product improvements. Your impact will be reflected in rising community engagement, improved onboarding metrics, and strong developer advocacy for ToolHive as the most secure and intuitive way to connect MCP servers.
What Success Looks Like: First 6-12 months
- Rapid Product & Developer-Experience Fluency: Within the first 3 months, strong fluency in ToolHive’s architecture, developer workflows, and onboarding journey has been established, allowing early identification of high-leverage growth opportunities and adoption friction.
- Culture of Experimentation: Multiple top-of-funnel growth experiments have been launched, yielding at least a few high-impact learnings and measurable improvements.
- Reduced Onboarding Friction: Time-to-value is lower for new developers, with key blockers quickly identified and addressed to improve activation rates.
- Accelerated Developer Growth: ToolHive’s repos and SDKs show clear gains in GitHub stars, contributors, downloads, and developer signups.
- Community-Driven Product Improvement: Roadmap and product decisions are meaningfully shaped by insights from GitHub Issues, community feedback, and analytics.
In This Role, You Will
- Benchmark ToolHive’s growth against leading OSS and developer tools to identify new opportunities and track progress.
- Monitor and report on key growth funnel metrics, using dashboards and analytics platforms to guide strategy and ongoing improvements.
- Develop and implement data-driven experiments that increase GitHub stars, repository activity, downloads, usage, and developer signups for ToolHive.
- Lead enhancements to developer onboarding, optimizing documentation, quickstarts, and tutorials to shorten time-to-first-usage and improve activation/retention rates.
- Collect and translate community developer feedback into features and roadmap priorities.
- Partner closely with engineering, DevRel, and marketing to coordinate impactful product launches, events, campaigns, and developer advocacy initiatives.
We understand
Not everyone will meet every requirement listed, and that’s perfectly okay. We encourage you to apply regardless of your self-assessment. We value a diverse range of skills and experiences and believe your unique perspective can make a significant impact. We want to hear from you!

- Strong technical acumen, comfortable reading technical docs, trying APIs/CLIs, and working closely with engineers.
- Experience designing/iterating onboarding flows, docs, quickstarts, and developer engagement campaigns.
- Proven record of running data-driven growth experiments, tracking funnel metrics, and diagnosing adoption blockers (using Looker/Amplitude/Mixpanel/SQL/etc.).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences; proven ability to author docs, specs, and growth analyses.
