We're on the lookout for a talented Backend Engineer to join our Autopilot team and help us build an awesome internal communications platform. We are looking for empathetic and motivated team players, motivated by growth and ownership.
Our environment
- Working with skilled and similar-minded professionals in a team that values diversity and inclusivity.
- We aim to create a flexible and agile work environment that promotes the well-being and work-life balance of our employees.
- We are enthusiastic about technology and committed to using it to improve the world.
We follow the "You build it, you run it"-approach and take pride in it.
The Team
Autopilot is one of the newest and most ambitious initiatives in our product organization. We're building the automation and agent layer for the Staffbase platform: giving customers the ability to configure their own event-driven, rule-based and agentic workflows.
What you'll be doing
- Responsible for developing and improving our RESTful web services, including utilizing and integrating LLMs into our services, with some involvement in our web-based clients
- Work in a cross-functional Scrum team and produce high-quality and tested code
- Give and receive valuable feedback in our code review process and architectural advisory forums, continuously learning from and sharing knowledge with your peers
- Use AI coding tools to move faster without offloading judgment: you'll own the design, keep PRs small and reviewable, and make sure every change is something you can explain and stand behind — whether that review comes from a peer or an AI tool
- Take ownership for what you care about: from the features you build, to the quality of our work, to the environment we work in
- You work iteratively, frequently pushing code, ensuring a good CI/CD pipeline, and automating where possible
What you need to be successful
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- You are a Backend Engineer experienced in Go, Java/Kotlin and relational databases like Postgres or NoSQL databases like MongoDB
- Ideally, you have worked with Docker, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, Prometheus or Grafana before and have a good understanding of REST and Microservices
- You bring a sound understanding of testing practices, and take responsibility for the quality and correctness of the code you produce
- Preferably, you have worked in an agile environment before
- You value clean code and learning new things
- Good English communication skills
- You're a self-starter who takes initiative while collaborating well with others
What you'll get
- Competitive Compensation - we offer attractive salary packages including LTIP (unit-based Long Term Incentive Plan)
- Flexibility - we offer flexible working time models and the option of hybrid work, and support this with a yearly flex work allowance of €1560
- Recharge - with 31 vacation days annually (incl. one floating holiday), plus pro rata fully paid Fridays off during August
- Support - we offer offering a company pension scheme
- Volunteers Day - you’ll get one day off per year for supporting a social project
