FUNCTION
The Quality Specialist will support Standard Nuclear’s quality assurance program by performing inspections, maintaining documentation, and supporting manufacturing and process teams to ensure compliance with company and regulatory quality standards. This is a hands-on role focused on daily quality operations within a manufacturing and laboratory environment.
This role provides day-to-day quality oversight, conducts inspections and audits, manages nonconformance and corrective action processes, and supports document control programs while helping maintain compliance with NQA-1 and other applicable standards. The Quality Specialist ensures that quality assurance activities promote safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance throughout all phases of design, procurement, and production. This position requires strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and a proactive approach to ensuring quality across all operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Inspection & Verification
- Perform receiving inspections of incoming materials, components, and assemblies, as well as in-process and final inspections of manufactured components, assemblies, and materials.
- Verify that work is performed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and procedures.
- Document inspection results and report nonconformances to the Quality Manager.
- Support calibration and maintenance of inspection tools and measuring equipment.
Documentation & Records
- Maintain accurate quality documentation, records, and traceability in accordance with company procedures.
- Support preparation and review of inspection reports, material certifications, and supplier documentation.
- Assist in maintaining document control systems and ensure forms, procedures, and instructions are current.
Process Support
- Support implementation and execution of quality procedures on the manufacturing floor.
- Assist with supplier quality activities, including receiving inspections and verification of supplied materials.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and corrective action efforts.
Audits & Compliance
- Support internal audits and readiness reviews.
- Participate in the evaluation of corrective actions and follow-up verification.
- Help ensure compliance with company QA requirements, NQA-1 standards, and applicable DOE/NRC regulations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical discipline; or equivalent experience in a regulated industry.
- 3+ years of quality assurance or inspection experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or technical environment.
- Familiarity with NQA-1, ISO 9001, or similar quality systems preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Hands-on experience with calipers, micrometers, gauges, or other inspection tools.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience working in radiological or regulated environments is a plus.
