Position Overview
The Director of Transportation and Logistics leads procurement, execution, and governance of transportation within North America and EMEA. Taking a continuous improvement approach and operational excellence must be embedded in your overall strategy. The ideal candidate possesses deep knowledge in supply chain and transportation management, 3PL/4PL freight management experience, encourages and develops high performing teams, cultivates productive and enduring relationships with transportation service providers, evangelizes customer service and business development, drives performance excellence and process improvement, knows how to manage cost within budget and delivers strategic projects and initiatives. The Director of Transportation anticipates and offsets barriers by being Intune with the business trends, solutions oriented and works collaboratively with key internal and external business partners across geographies.
What You'll Do
- Drive the development and execution of transportation strategies, working closely with internal customers (sales, marketing, supply chain, operations, IT, and finance) to achieve business growth and meet the needs of our customers. Remains fully in-synch with the fast-paced business requirements and provides operational and logistics options and solutions.
- Lead efforts to analyze transportation performance, identifying and prioritizing opportunities to reduce lead time and cost while improving the customer experience
- Own carrier relationships to include supplier reviews, assessments, RFP/RFQ and contract negotiation and administration
- Track, analyze and communicate transportation and carrier key performance metrics while holding providers accountable to meet targets
- Analyze and recommend network distribution models, supply chain architecture and tactics with regional extended teams
- Develop, promote and retain top talent, directly leading team members that can be local, remote, and overseas
- Set and lead annual budgets and quarterly simulations. Report on financial metrics as they relate to transportation
- Support Stanley compliance and the Global Trade Team with certifications such as C-TPAT, CSI, CCP, AEO, etc.
- Continuously benchmark and apply best-in class-capabilities and tools to leverage to ensure Stanley mains clear advantages in the marketplace
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business, Management, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; MBA or equivalent experience preferred
- 10+ years of progressive experience leading domestic and international transportation teams
- Passionate about delivering exceptional order experiences for customers
- Analytical approach with a strong curiosity for uncovering the “why” behind order and operational data
- Self-directed and proactive, with a proven ability to independently define, lead, and complete projects
- Comfortable operating autonomously in ambiguous environments; adept at identifying business challenges and developing scalable solutions
- Strong business acumen and intuitive understanding of cross-functional dynamics
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of navigating and aligning diverse perspectives
- Expertise in analyzing transportation metrics and using data to drive decision-making
- Skilled in developing and leading teams to produce robust daily, weekly, and monthly dashboards, reports, and root cause analyses
- Hands-on leader willing to dive deep and do what’s necessary to meet objectives
- Proficient in financial planning, budgeting, and performance reporting
- Deep knowledge of e-commerce last-mile delivery, global and regional transportation/logistics, procurement, and vendor management
- Proven success in negotiating with regional, national, and international carriers, including experience with drop ship capabilities
- Strong experience with transportation systems and the ability to build tools and reports to maintain clear visibility and performance oversight

- Daily work hours flex to build collaborative partnerships and timely communications across multiple geographies and time zones
- Indirectly leads, motivates, and influences a dispersed team, spanning multiple regions and cultures
- Willingness to travel up to 30%

The base pay range for this position is for a successful candidate within the state listed. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on multiple factors such as work location, job-related knowledge, skills, qualifications, and experience.
Salary Range
$180,000 - $200,000 USD
