Position Overview:
Merchandise Sourcing Manager (MSM) is responsible for factory strategy implementation in one category. MSM need to lead MSL and MSS to effectively implement PMI factory strategy and allocate business to proper supplier. MSM also need to lead cost management, factory performance management and process improvement based on assigned category. While timely solve relevant problems to help factory reach PMI requirements, MSM also need to cooperate with cross function team to setup/improve process in order to increase team working efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Supplier Management
- Contribute on category strategy creations, new categories/new suppliers/new material sourcing strategy creation and effective implementation.
- Create varying complexity in accordance with established category strategies reflecting the optimum cost, quality, delivery.
- Create factory capability matrix based on features of each factory in category.
- Initiate business allocation plan for one category and implement allocation plan after get approval from Director of Merchandise Souring.
- Cooperation with factory and planning team to solve capacity gap in category, guide and support MSL on capacity/lead time negotiation with factories in category.
- Setup factory performance management matrix and manage performance of all factories in category.
- Coordinate with internal cross function team to handle urgent case.
- Resolves production conflicts between PMI and Factories in one category and escalates unresolved production conflicts to DMS.
- Conducts regular, direct communication with Factory Owner or Manager to ensure smooth, effective communication between PMI and the Factory.
- Cost Management
- Create and maintain category cost structure model.
- Initiate annual price plan for category and conduct high-level price negotiations with factories in category to ensure that PMI get the competitive price.
- Implement annual price agreement and monitor result.
- Look for additional cost reduction opportunity and work with factory and internal team to setup/implement cost saving plan.
- Process Improvement
- Monitor, review and improve current processes and manage process document.
- Setup new process based on business need.
- Lead continue improvement program in companywide.
- Team Management
- Manage performance of team in category.
- Setup clear development plan for MSL, provide necessary training and help MSL to grow up.
- Support DMS (Director of Merchandise Sourcing) to build up professional team.
Skills and Experience:
- Excellent planning & implementation skills
- Strong analytical ability and negotiation skills with active listening skills.
- Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks; good time-management, organizational, problem-prevention and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate effect. Reflect a professional image in writing, face to face or by telephone for information exchanges.
- Solid computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Good personal skills with the ability to effectively work with individuals and groups at all organization levels; ability to lead team to work.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Willingness to adapt to changing business needs and deadlines.
- Ability to study and apply new information.
- Willing work under pressure and able to travel on request.
Education and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics or Foreign Trade, or equivalent related experience.
- Ten (10)+ years of experience in foreign trade.
