The Role 

As the Director, Sales, you will lead StarRez's North American Community Relations organization, driving long-term customer success, revenue growth, and strategic customer relationships across our existing customer base. You will lead a team of Sales Managers responsible for account management, customer engagement, and expansion opportunities while ensuring customers maximize the value of their partnership with StarRez. 

In addition to leading the North America Community Relations organization, this role serves as the strategic partner to Community Relations leadership across EMEA and APAC. While this position does not have direct management responsibility for those regional teams, it is accountable for driving global alignment across business processes, operational excellence, product and solution development, and revenue growth programs. The Director partners closely with regional leaders to share insights, standardize successful practices where appropriate, and deliver a consistent, world-class customer experience globally. 

In this role, you will establish the strategic direction for the Community Relations team, partnering closely with Sales, Professional Services, Product, Support, Marketing, and Executive Leadership to deliver an exceptional customer experience that drives retention, customer advocacy, and sustainable revenue growth. You are a collaborative, customer-focused leader who develops high-performing teams, builds trusted executive relationships, and leverages customer insights to influence business decisions. 

 

Role Specifics 

  • Work Location: Remote 
  • Travel: Up to 40% (The percentage of travel is an estimation. It could vary based on business need.) 
  • Compensation Structure: In addition to the base salary listed below, this role is eligible for a commission plan. 
  • Reporting Structure: This role reports to the VP, Sales. 

 

What You Will Own 

  • Lead and develop the North America Community Relations organization, including  Community Relations Sales Managers, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • In addition to leading the North America Community Relations organization, this role serves as the strategic partner to Community Relations leadership across EMEA and APAC. The Director will drive global alignment across business processes, and revenue growth
  • Develop and execute customer engagement strategies that strengthen executive relationships, improve customer satisfaction, increase retention, and identify expansion opportunities across the existing customer base
  • Drive revenue growth through renewals, upsell and cross-sell opportunities, while partnering with the New Business Sales team to ensure a seamless customer lifecycle
  • Serve as an leadership sponsor for strategic customer relationships, proactively managing escalations, mitigating risk, and ensuring successful customer outcomes
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Professional Services, Customer Support, Marketing, and Sales Leadership to align customer needs with business priorities and advocate for continuous product and service improvements
  • Monitor business performance through customer and revenue metrics, pipeline health, and team performance, providing regular updates and strategic insights to executive leadership
  • Represent StarRez at customer meetings, user conferences, industry events, and other strategic engagements to strengthen customer relationships and reinforce our market leadership

 

Required Qualifications 

  • 5+ years of experience in Sales, with sales management within a SaaS or enterprise software environment
  • Demonstrated success managing strategic customer relationships while driving revenue growth through customer expansion and retention initiatives
  • Experience partnering cross-functionally with Product, Professional Services, Marketing, and Support organizations
  • Strong executive communication, negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Experience utilizing CRM platforms such as Salesforce to manage customer relationships, forecasting, and business insights

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience leading customer-facing teams supporting enterprise SaaS platforms
  • Experience serving higher education institutions or other complex enterprise customers
  • Demonstrated success improving customer retention, customer engagement, and expansion revenue
  • Experience presenting business performance and strategic initiatives to executive leadership
  • Knowledge of the student housing, residential life, or higher education technology market
