CEO & Founder, Non-Rx Digital Storefront

About The Job

At least half of patient visits result in doctors recommending non-prescription products or services, but these recommendations are often given in a vague, untracked manner, such as a post-it note. This leaves patients burdened with researching critical health and wellness products on their own, with little assurance about quality or appropriateness. For healthcare providers, this fragmented process makes it difficult to monitor outcomes or ensure consistent quality, and organizations risk losing valuable referrals and revenue to external retailers.

Redesign Health is looking for a visionary Founder to lead Onyx, a new venture poised to transform this experience. Onyx is an innovative online platform that streamlines the patient journey from recommendation to doorstep, providing a seamless, trusted channel for non-Rx product purchases directly from their doctor’s recommendation.

Why now

  • Consumer Appeal: Strong patient / consumer demand for non-Rx recommendations from their practitioners - but no structured platform to deliver such recommendations
  • Cultural Shift for Providers: Whereas clinical providers have historically separated themselves from health & wellness, a rise in patient education has resulted in the bridging of these two silos
  • Technological & Logistics Innovations: Onyx can blend proprietary software for product curation and quality monitoring, with off-the-shelf developments in consumer-facing storefronts and 3PL logistics
  • Market Potential: Incumbents in the space have largely focused on complementary alternative medicine providers or veterinarians - leaving MDs and health systems largely untapped
  • Mission Driven: Onyx envisions a future where world-class patient health integrates clinical services with quality non-Rx products, services and lifestyle recommendations to meaningfully improve patient health.

What you’ll do

    • Scaled value with finite resources: Successfully scaled a product or service in a resource-constrained context.
    • Go-to-Market: Led the strategy and execution of bringing a product or service to market through segmenting customers (Providers, Health Systems), testing distribution channels, applying different marketing tactics, and/or direct customer interactions.
  • Preferred Background
    • Healthcare Technology: Cursory understanding of healthcare systems and how to sell similar products to Providers, with an understanding of EHR integrations, telehealth platforms, and HIPAA-compliant technologies.
    • Build & Scale: Developed a product or service to meet market needs and then adapted it to grow the customer base and revenue.
  • Skills & Attributes
    • Relentlessness: A combination of perseverance, urgency, and decisiveness; it is an unwavering determination to achieve goals despite obstacles, making prompt and firm decisions along the way.

    • Customer Orientation: A focus on deeply understanding and responding to customer needs and feedback to drive product development, improve user experience, and foster commitment.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
