As a hands-on Software Engineering Manager, you’ll not only guide your team but also deploy your technical expertise to help deliver products that transform how students and educators engage with higher education.

What you'll do:

• Drive high-performance software delivery for a team of engineers, fostering a culture of ownership and continuous learning.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management and design, to define and execute the product roadmap.
• Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
• Implement best practices in coding, testing, and deployment to maintain high standards of software quality.
• Engage in design reviews and code reviews to up-level the performance of your team.
• Set the standard for code quality by contributing to the codebase yourself.
• Identify and address technical challenges, providing innovative solutions to complex problems.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to drive continuous improvement.

What you'll need:

• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer operating at scale
• 2+ years of experience managing software engineers
• Strong ownership mindset and the ability to autonomously lead and drive complex implementations
• Deep curiosity, customer empathy, and commitment to engineering as a craft
• Ability to plan, estimate, and manage the technical aspects of project execution and delivery
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to mentor junior developers
• Impeccable communication skills for collaborating with product, design, and customer-facing teams

What we need from you:

• A proven track record of leading teams to deliver high-quality software at high velocity and significant scale
• The ability to eliminate process bottlenecks and remove obstacles in the way of software delivery
• Impeccable sense of ownership and accountability and the ability to drive that culture with your team
• Strong communication skills, including communication to non-technical stakeholders and executives
• Deep experience with full-stack engineering using high-level programming languages and frameworks (Python/Django a plus), cloud hyperscalers (AWS a plus), and SQL databases (PostgreSQL a plus).
