Senior Fraud Business Analyst

Stenn is one of the leading FinTechs in Europe and a category leader in the verticals and markets it operates in. Founded in 2015, Stenn’s purpose is to connect international SMEs to the global financial system, helping to bridge a reported $3.6 trillion (USD) financing gap through a fast, simple online platform. To date, Stenn has enabled over $18 billion (USD) of finance to SMEs in 3 verticals and 4 markets, with capital provided by several blue-chip banks and institutional fund managers across the globe.

Rapid expansion continues at Stenn, as under-served SMEs seek financing solutions to manage significant macroeconomic and supply chain disruption; and this follows our $50 million Series A fundraise in 2022, valuing Stenn at $900 million.

Our HQ is in London with employees across the globe, including the USA, Europe and China. We are made up of diverse, highly skilled professionals who work in an innovative way to develop and drive our business further. Our people are empowered to work autonomously through a trusting leadership style which encourages learning.

The Role:

As the Fraud space continues to evolve, our Fraud Centre of Excellence ensures Stenn’s products and processes deliver robust fraud mitigation, while directly enabling Stenn’s growth ambitions.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Fraud Business Analyst who will drive and support in further maturing Stenn’s Fraud Risk Management Programme, with a strong focus on governance, strategy, prevention, detection, monitoring, and continuous improvements.

Responsibilities:

  • Discover insights from data to develop and implement new fraud prevention strategies across the business.
  • Act as the internal fraud liaison; developing Stenn’s overall internal capability around fraud risk management.
  • Instil a robust fraud risk awareness culture within Stenn; highlighting the importance of fraud prevention and minimising reputational risks. This includes awareness campaigns and training to key stakeholders, along with maintenance of internal communications portals.
  • Leverage fraud expertise, research and industry best practice to conduct holistic, end-to-end Fraud Risk Assessments for new products and/or marketing initiatives; identifying potential fraud control gaps and providing corrective recommendations to implement effectively.
  • Define key fraud performance metrics to develop and implement data-driven fraud detection rules, models and dashboards with Credit, Product and Decision Science (for machine learning model creation and maintenance); enhancing performance and profitability across the business.
  • Set and continually improve Fraud KPIs; turning insights into actionable changes for predictive models and/or policies.
  • Analyse and interpret qualitative and quantitative data to answer key questions from stakeholders and/or out of self-initiated curiosity, with an eye for what drives business performance.
  • Maintain fraud risk register; ensuring all risks have associated preventative and detective controls in place, and that the controls are operating effectively.
  • Conduct business acceptance testing and user acceptance testing to ensure fraud requirements and associated detective controls are implemented correctly.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Criminology or a related discipline – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
  • Demonstrated 5+ years of experience as a Fraud Analyst or Specialist, plus in-depth knowledge of Fraud Management Governance (Policies, Procedures, KPIs, Reporting), Fraud Risk Assessments, and Fraud Investigations.
  • Keen interest in fraud detection and prevention processes in the Fintech space, especially in digital e-commerce.
  • Strong investigative intuition and curiosity to understand the “whys” and “hows” of the ways things work.
  • Critical thinker with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to independently identify gaps and opportunities and then formulate solid recommendations to continually improve Fraud policies, processes, practices, and governance.
  • Excellent writing skills and attention to detail for presentations, reports, and fraud risk management documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal, and oral/written/presentation skills to interact with colleagues across all levels of the organisation fraud risk concerns and developments.
  • Advanced level proficiency in MS Office Suite.
