What you’ll do
1. Accurate and Timely Financial Reporting:
- Collaborate and assist Controller in month end close process - preparation of monthly financial statements with 95% accuracy within 5 business days for Controller review.
- Analyze general ledger balances, investigate variances, review account reconciliations to align actual results with budgets/forecasts.
- Collaborate and review Argentina legal entity month end close and ensure timely reporting and reconciliation
- Complete monthly accruals and journal entries for US entity.
- Reconcile all US key accounts monthly, including AR, AP, accrued expenses, deferred revenues, prepaid accounts, and sales tax liabilities.
- Investigate reporting discrepancies and effectively communicate issues.
- Support Controller in monthly financial statement consolidation and liaise with Argentina accounting team
- Review/assist with revenue review in accordance with ASC606 standards.
- Review customer contracts in our CRM Salesforce, and process those in our billing and subscription management platform Maxio, to ensure accurate revenue recognition, invoicing and SaaS reporting.
- Maintain proper documentation for financial records, including contracts, invoices, and adjustments, ensuring audit readiness.
- Collaborate with the Controller to prepare for and pass the company’s first financial audit, resulting in a clean opinion.
- Book intercompany entries for multi-book accounting once the process is established.
2. Process Ownership and System Optimization:
- Take ownership of critical financial processes, including revenue recognition, portions of audit preparation, and supporting tax projects.
- Strengthening internal controls - make recommendations to help improve internal controls, identify opportunities to improve workflows and processes across revenue, expenses, and reconciliation activities.
- Collaborate on system implementations and upgrades post-Year 1 to enhance efficiency and scalability.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure financial completeness, including capturing department-level changes and ensuring all systems are updated with any financial changes.
3. Cash Flow and Tax Compliance Management:
- Manage AR processes to ensure invoices are issued within 48 hours of deal closure and collections maintain a DSO of under 45.
- Lead daily accounting activities including AP, general ledger and bank transactions ensuring proper recordation of transactions according to GAAP standards.
- Perform monthly sales tax reconciliations in Avatax and ensure proper classification and timely submission of filings.
- Support historical liability mitigation for sales tax compliance, working closely with external tax professionals and ensuring accurate record-keeping.
4. Collaborative Contributions and Team Culture:
- Partner with the Finance team to provide accurate and timely insights to department leaders, enabling informed decision-making.
- Support forecasting by maintaining accurate financial data and running monthly variance analyses to identify and document month over month changes.
- Run budget vs actual variances, to help drive budgeting conversations, and to help align accounting and FP&A processes to be cohesive.
- Actively participate in team-building activities, such as bi-annual kickoff events, retreats, and virtual or in-person initiatives like escape rooms, yoga, and informal happy hours.
Competencies
Must-Have:
- Technical Proficiency: Extensive knowledge of GAAP principles, ASC 606, and SaaS-specific financial operations.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a methodical approach to troubleshooting and problem solving
- Self-Starter: Proactive self-starter who enjoys a fast-paced environment and an ability to prioritize and multi-task with minimal supervision
Monthly Close Experience: Strong working knowledge of and experience in financial reporting, month end closing, and audit support.
- Education: BA/BS in Accounting or related field. CPA or equivalent is strongly preferred..
- Collaborative Communication: Strong English skills. Effective communicator with cross-functional teams and ability to translate financial data into actionable insights. Ability to own a process, collaborate with other departments to push work forward.
- Preferred Background: 4–6 years of accounting experience, preferably with US-based companies, and a strong preference for candidates with Big 4 or SaaS experience.
Nice-to-Have:
- System Expertise: Proficiency in QuickBooks is preferred. Experience with Bill.com, Expensify, Salesforce, Maxio (formerly SaaSOptics), or Avatax is helpful.
- Audit Experience: Familiarity with audit processes, controls, and successful preparation for audits in a SaaS or technology-focused environment.
- Start-up Experience: Prior experience at a start-up or high-growth company with demonstrated ability to adapt to change.
