Schedule: June–November; 5 days per week / 40 hours per week. The schedule will include weekends and some evenings.

Position Overview
Stone Barns Center is seeking a Seasonal Crops Farmer for a six-month period from June through November. This role supports the Crops and Greenhouse teams in all aspects of seasonal field production, including planting, crop maintenance, irrigation, and harvest operations. The Seasonal Crops Farmer plays an important role in maintaining high-quality production systems while contributing to data collection, educational programming, and collaborative projects across the organization. This position offers hands-on experience in diversified organic farming at scale and opportunities to work alongside researchers, chefs, and other experts.
Key Responsibilities
- Support all production activities associated with outdoor vegetable, grain, and flower cropping systems
- Assist with field preparation, planting, cultivation, irrigation, crop maintenance, harvesting, and post-harvest handling
- Maintain accurate crop records and field production data
- Fulfill harvest lists and delivery schedules
- Assist with programs, projects, and educational tours as assigned
- Work with management to ensure cleanliness, organization, and safety across all production areas
- Additional responsibilities may be revised or assigned based on operational needs
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of organic vegetable production; experience in diversified or large-scale production is a plus
- Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively and cooperatively with management and team members
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain quality during repetitive tasks
- Positive attitude, enthusiasm, and initiative, especially during peak season
- Ability to follow detailed instructions, ask questions when needed, and retain information
- Desire to learn and grow within a collaborative farm environment
- High level of organization with strong communication skills
- Proficiency with Google Docs and other planning or recordkeeping software
- Valid driver’s license with a reputable driving record
- Reliable transportation
