Data Scientist

Overview:

As a Data Scientist specializing in Marketplace Analytics, you will play a critical role in leveraging data to drive strategic decision-making and optimize our marketplace platform. Reporting to the Product team, you will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to analyze user behavior, market trends, and business performance, providing insights that drive product enhancements and business growth. This role combines expertise in data analysis, machine learning, and statistical modeling to uncover actionable insights and drive innovation within our marketplace ecosystem.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to identify key business questions and objectives, and develop data-driven solutions to address them.
• Analyze large datasets to extract meaningful insights related to user behavior, market dynamics, and product performance within the marketplace platform.
• Develop predictive models and machine learning algorithms to optimize marketplace operations, improve user experiences, and drive revenue growth.
• Conduct A/B testing and experimentation to evaluate the impact of product changes and marketing initiatives, and iterate based on findings.
• Partner with data engineers to ensure the availability and quality of data for analysis, and contribute to data architecture and infrastructure decisions.
• Design and implement dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to track key performance metrics and communicate insights to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with business intelligence and analytics teams to integrate marketplace data with other business systems and processes.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies, methodologies, and best practices in data science and machine learning, and apply them to solve business challenges.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior data scientists and analysts, fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making within the product organization.
• Communicate findings, recommendations, and insights to stakeholders, including product managers, senior leadership, and cross-functional teams.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or related field. Master's preferred.
• 8 years of experience in data science, machine learning, or analytics roles, with a focus on e-commerce or marketplace platforms.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with data manipulation and analysis libraries (e.g., pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn).
• Strong understanding of statistical analysis, experimental design, and hypothesis testing methodologies.
• Experience with machine learning techniques such as regression, classification, clustering, and recommendation systems.
• Familiarity with big data technologies and distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) is a plus.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a passion for leveraging data to drive business impact and innovation.
• Enthusiasm for the marketplace industry and a desire to contribute to the growth and success of our platform through data-driven insights and analysis.
