Senior Quality Engineer

As a Senior Quality Engineer on our Data Team, you will be pivotal in maintaining and enhancing the quality and integrity of our data lake backed products, insights, and reporting capabilities. You will collaborate with a proficient team of Data / Data Platform Engineers who excel in areas such as Data DevOps, Platform Architecture, Dynamic ETL Development, and Data Transformation and Delivery Technologies. Your role will involve creating and implementing data quality processes that ensure accurate and reliable data delivery to support reporting and distribution downstream systems and users. This is not a typical QA role; we are looking for a Senior Quality Engineer who can design and implement automated testing solutions within CI/CD pipelines and has a deep understanding of Data Lake backed products, insights, and reporting

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement data quality strategies, test plans, and procedures to validate data integrity and consistency across our data lake and warehouse environments.
  • Collaborate with data engineers to establish quality standards and best practices for data management, leveraging tools like Airflow, Apache Iceberg, and Redash for data orchestration and discovery.
  • Monitor, analyse, and report on data quality metrics and trends, utilising AWS S3 backed Data Lake / Lake House infrastructure.
  • Implement automated checks and validation processes for ETL pipelines and data syndication using technologies such as AWS Glue, AWS Athena, and Kubernetes.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, ensuring quality at every stage of the software delivery lifecycle.
  • Work closely with the engineering team to diagnose data-related issues and drive continuous improvements in data quality and reliability.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for data quality processes and recommend improvements for existing data validation frameworks.

Desirable Skills:

  • 7 to 9 years of experience
  • Strong understanding of data quality frameworks and best practices, with proven experience in data validation and quality assurance.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python for data analysis, validation, and testing.
  • Experience with AWS services (S3, Redshift, Athena, Glue) and familiarity with orchestration tools such as Airflow for managing ETL processes.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform and container orchestration with Kubernetes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with version control systems such as Git and CI/CD tools like GitLab for continuous integration and deployment.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail to identify data quality issues and provide effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate efficiently within cross-functional teams.
