
Security Guard - Part Time
Overview:
The Security Guard role focuses on safeguarding customers, staff, and property while maintaining compliance with state regulations. The Security Guard is an integral part of the customer experience as they are often the first person a customer interacts with.
Job Responsibilities:
- Greet visitors and maintain a professional and approachable demeanor. Manage de-escalation of high-risk situations while maintaining respectful and professional communication with customers and team members.
- Enforce and oversee security and safety policies to protect the facility and its occupants.
- Conduct regular surveillance of the facility’s interior and exterior to address safety risks, security breaches, or violations of company standards. Monitor surveillance cameras, alarms, and access control systems.
- Safeguard products and property against theft, diversion, fire, and loss.
- Investigate and document incidents, accidents, and suspicious activities, ensuring adherence to state security regulations.
- Train team members on safety protocols and state security requirements.
- Support the Security and Safety Manager and the General Manager with additional tasks as needed.
- Detect and report any unauthorized access, safety hazards, or security breaches.
- Verify credentials of employees, visitors, and vendors.
- Control access to restricted areas.
- Respond to alarms, emergencies, and incidents.
- Coordinate with law enforcement or emergency services as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior law enforcement, military, or corporate security experience.
- Experience working within a regulated cannabis facility.
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance in a highly regulated industry.
- Excellent communication skills for interactions with customers, employees, and regulators.
Hiring Requirements:
- Possess a current New Jersey security guard SORA certification (Security Officer Registration Act).
- Must be over 21 years of age.
- Can legally work in the United States - all documentation required
- Must have a valid State-Issued ID or U.S. Passport
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must have no scheduling restrictions.
- Employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of all pre-employment background checks.
Physical Demands:
- Must have the ability to push, pull, or lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Must be capable of sitting, squatting, standing, kneeling, bending, or walking for extended periods.
Education:
- Minimum High School Diploma or G.E.D equivalent required.

New Jersey Pay Range
$18 - $19 USD
