
Facilities Manager
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to oversee all aspects of building maintenance, equipment upkeep, safety compliance, and facility operations at our cannabis manufacturing facility in Hancock, MD. The ideal candidate will ensure that our facility runs efficiently, complies with all regulatory standards, and supports optimal production workflows.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing facility, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, security, and production infrastructure.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for critical systems (e.g., HVAC, CO2, water filtration, extraction systems).
- Manage vendors and contractors for facility-related services such as repairs, upgrades, landscaping, pest control, and janitorial work.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to cannabis production, occupational safety (OSHA), fire codes, and environmental standards.
- Collaborate with extraction, processing, and packaging teams to ensure optimal facility layouts and workflows.
- Develop and manage facility budgets, including capital improvement projects and cost-saving initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, inspections, repairs, and regulatory compliance.
- Serve as the point of contact for emergency facility issues, responding quickly to resolve problems and minimize downtime.
- Manage facilities technicians and oversees the daily workflow, scheduling and assignments of the equipment and facility.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Facilities Manager or similar role in a manufacturing, pharmaceutical, food production, or cannabis facility.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, facility operations, and industrial equipment maintenance.
- Familiarity with cannabis industry regulations (e.g., METRC, local/state compliance) is highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards and facility environmental compliance.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and contractors simultaneously.
- Previous experience managing facilities technicians.
- Proficiency with maintenance management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in GMP-certified or highly regulated manufacturing environments.
- Hands-on technical skills in HVAC, electrical, or mechanical systems.
- Prior experience in cannabis processing or manufacturing facilities.
Education:
- High School diploma or GED required, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred.
- Certifications such as CFM (Certified Facility Manager), OSHA 30, or trade licenses are a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the facilities.
- Must be able to access all parts of the company equipment.
Maryland Pay Range
$80,000 - $85,000 USD
