Position Summary

This may be your perfect opportunity to join our innovative team as an Ellucian Banner Technical/Financial Aid Consultant. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Ellucian Banner Technical Consultant with a Financial Aid focus to support the technical configurations, integrations, and coding requirements for the Banner Financial Aid module. This full-time position offers a chance to make a significant impact by enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of financial aid operations in higher education institutions.

Consulting & Implementation

  • Collaborate with clients to implement and integrate the Ellucian Banner software suite and related applications, ensuring seamless functionality.
  • Provide expert guidance on Banner Financial Aid setup, configuration, and optimization.

Technical Development & Configuration

  • Design, develop, and optimize Oracle SQL and PL/SQL scripts for Banner Financial Aid rules.
  • Configure and troubleshoot Banner pages, jobs, and functions to support financial aid operations.
  • Manage security access requests and permissions for Banner Financial Aid pages.
  • Set up and execute the New Year Roll process for financial aid systems.

Automation & Reporting

  • Develop custom popsels and batch posting processes (e.g., RORPOST/RORBPST).
  • Create and refine Oracle SQL queries for Banner rules, including:
    • RORRULES (tracking, fund disbursement, awarding, packaging, SAP, budgets)
    • RBRABRC (algorithmic budgeting)
    • RORALGO (general algorithmic processing)
    • RPRALGR (algorithmic packaging)
  • Build enterprise reporting solutions (e.g., Evisions Argos) with dashboards, automated emails, and data processing tools.
  • Maintain BDM tracking updates and automate document imaging processes using VBScript/PowerShell.

Job Scheduling & Automation

  • Develop and maintain job scheduling workflows (e.g., Automic/UC4) for:
    • Data loads, batch postings, Pletter generation, automated downloads
    • File transfers to the Department of Education and state agencies
  • Develop and troubleshoot Linux shell scripts for scheduled processes.

Testing & Compliance

  • Test Banner updates, patches, and state-delivered modifications to ensure system stability.
  • Develop SQL queries for institutional research, ad hoc reporting, and compliance reporting (IPEDS, NPSAS, HEERF, etc.).

Training & Support

  • Troubleshoot end-user issues related to Banner pages, jobs, and functions.
  • Train users on Banner Financial Aid system functionality and best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Previous Higher Ed Work Experience: 5+ years supporting Banner functionality within the Financial Aid Department of a higher education institution.
  • Consulting and Training Experience: Ability to deliver high-quality client service, create strategies and train users on the Banner system.
  • SQL & PL/SQL Programming: Develop and optimize queries, procedures, and scripts for Ellucian Banner Financial Aid.
  • Reporting Experience: Expertise in Envisions Argos to design, develop, and maintain reports, dashboards, and automated workflows.
  • Document Management: Experience implementing and supporting Banner Document Management or other imaging systems.
  • Automation Tools: Experience automating batch processes with Automic Applications Manager (UC4) or similar software.
  • Self-Management: The ability to manage multiple projects independently and solve problems effectively.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong customer service approach.
  • Team Collaboration: A strong desire to learn, collaborate, and innovate with team members and clients.
  • Flexibility: The ability to travel as needed.

Pay and Benefits

  • The salary range is $90,000 -$125,000 plus bonus

The listed salary range for this position is indicative and subject to adjustment based on the candidate's unique skills and location. Final compensation will be determined through mutual agreement between the successful candidate and SIG.
