As the Legal Administrative Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting OJPC’s legal and advocacy work. You’ll be the first point of contact for many of our clients and visitors, and your behind-the-scenes support will help ensure our attorneys and staff can focus on fighting for justice and second chances.
In addition, as the Legal Administrative Assistant you will:
- Provide clerical support to attorneys and staff, including drafting routine correspondence and proofreading legal documents.
- Greet clients, board members, and the public, serving as the welcoming face of OJPC.
- File case documents both electronically and manually.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail, including scanning and distribution.
- Manage office supplies and deliveries.
- Be cross trained to provide back-up paralegal support for projects such as Beyond Guilt, HRIP, and Second Chance.
- Serve as board liaison by attending meetings, taking and transcribing minutes, and assisting with scheduling and materials.
- Participate in community outreach and educational events as needed.
- Manage scheduling and calendars for senior staff.
- Manage internal office events.
- Assist with preparing materials for meetings and presentations.
- Perform general office tasks to support the overall mission of OJPC.
- There will also be occasional evening or weekend events that require attendance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1-2 years of related experience providing administrative support to attorneys, judges, or other legal professionals.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software, specifically Word and Outlook.
- Experience with electronic case management and intake systems (such as Clio, Matrix, Lawmatics, LegalServer, myCase, et.) preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A collaborative spirit and a commitment to social justice.
- Experience working with marginalized communities or individuals in crisis is preferred but not required.
