The Verdin Company is searching for a Manufacturing Manager who shares our passion for blending innovation with craftsmanship and tradition. You will lead our one-of-a-kind custom fabrication shop in Cincinnati, Ohio, overseeing our small, but highly experienced and talented team of fabricators, welders, machinists, as well as other key personnel in purchasing, shipping, and administration. You’ll be responsible for streamlining our production processes while preserving the quality and beauty of our specialized work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, train, and develop a team of talented craftsmen and technicians in fabrication and assembly; foster a positive, high-performance, team-oriented culture focused on making amenity products that showcase both aesthetics and quality.
  • Supervise daily shop floor operations, including scheduling of new orders, monitoring jobs in process, and ensuring quality control of finished projects.
  • Oversee the creation and execution of work orders to capture and allocate labor and materials for each job.
  • Monitor jobs in process to ensure deadlines are met and manufactured products conform to the specifications of purchase orders and customer approved drawings.
  • Ensure that each job is carefully inspected for quality and adherence to approved drawings and purchase orders.
  • Conduct performance evaluations of factory team leaders and other key personnel.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and opportunities for cost savings and productivity gains.
  • Develop and enforce safety protocols on the factory floor; ensure that safety policies, manuals, and all applicable regulatory rules are understood and followed by factory personnel.
  • Manage the maintenance and lifecycles of plant machinery to minimize downtime and maximize functionality.
  • Maintain a clean, well-organized, and safe factory environment.
  • Collaborate with field service teams to provide manufacturing solutions that facilitate timely and efficient installations.
  • Work closely with purchasing and inventory managers to manage material procurement from domestic and foreign suppliers.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in manufacturing leadership positions, preferably with companies engaged in the custom fabrication of metal or mechanical products where each job is different and requires careful attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to hire, build, and motivate tight-knit teams of manufacturing personnel.
  • Confidence and professionalism in communicating with customers on pending orders; able to , especially when projects are running late or experience unexpected setbacks.
  • Fundamental understanding of mechanical and electrical products, as well as the tools and machinery involved in making such products.
  • Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings.
  • Experience with ERP systems (we use Global Shop) and proficiency with MS Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
