Strategy Consulting - Associate/Senior Associate

Melbourne

Are you a strategic thinker and natural problem solver, ready to make a real impact? Whether you’re a recent graduate or bring a few years of professional work experience, SPP offers exciting opportunities to grow your career in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

We’re hiring for an Associate/Senior Associate to join our Melbourne or Sydney office, where you’ll join a small but growing team delivering strategy and transformation work across a diverse range of sectors in Australia.

SPP is a high-impact strategy firm dedicated to enabling transformative, sustainable results. At SPP, you’ll work on varied and complex challenges across sectors, including education, research, government, consumer, financial services, and not-for-profits, driving impactful solutions for our clients and broader society.

About the role
As a member of our consulting team, you’ll be entrusted with real responsibility from day one. You’ll work closely with clients and colleagues to tackle strategic challenges, develop actionable insights, and deliver high-quality outcomes.

You’ll work alongside senior team members, gaining early exposure to complex problem-solving and senior stakeholders. Your development will be supported through structured training, hands-on coaching, regular feedback, and active mentoring to help you build strong analytical foundations, sound judgement, and confidence as a consultant.

You will contribute across all aspects of project delivery and client engagement, with increasing ownership over time as your capability grows.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Conducting research and gathering data to inform strategic decisions
  • Building financial and analytical models to uncover insights
  • Synthesising quantitative and qualitative data into clear, evidence-based recommendations
  • Developing high-quality reports and presentations that communicate complex ideas clearly and simply
  • Supporting and facilitating client workshops and stakeholder engagement sessions
  • Contributing to proposals, tenders, and thought leadership
  • Managing discrete project workstreams, supporting project delivery, and contributing to team development (for more experienced candidates)

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Recent graduate or someone with a few years’ experience in consulting, professional services, policy, analytics, or corporate strategy roles
  • Demonstrated initiative and intellectual curiosity, with the ability to work independently, take ownership of tasks, and drive work forward in ambiguous client environments
  • Exposure to hypothesis-driven problem solving and structured, top-down thinking methodologies, with a strong learning mindset
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with comfort working with data and presenting clear, well-reasoned insights
  • A Bachelor’s and/or higher degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Commerce, Engineering, Arts, Law, Science), with strong academic achievement (e.g. distinction average or equivalent)
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Word; PowerBI desirable)
  • A pragmatic, outcome-driven mindset and a collaborative approach to teamwork

Why Work With SPP?

  • Diverse Sectors: Deliver major outcomes across education, research, government, consumer, financial services, and not‑for‑profit sectors.
  • Collaborative Projects: Work with senior leaders to tackle varied and complex challenges across a wide array of industries.
  • Structured development and mentorship: Work closely with senior team members, with hands-on coaching, regular feedback, and exposure to complex client problems. We invest in structured training and mentoring to support rapid skill development and progression.
  • Inclusive Culture: Join a supportive and talented team that values innovation, connection, and shared success. We believe diverse perspectives drive better outcomes and are committed to an environment where all team members can thrive. As a SPP team member, you will have the opportunity to work closely with Partners and Senior team members on a daily basis and be encouraged to make a direct and meaningful contribution to projects from day one.
  • Real ownership and visible impact: At SPP, your work directly shapes client thinking and decisions. You’ll see how your analysis and recommendations land with senior leaders and contribute to outcomes, rather than being buried in large delivery teams.
  • End-to-end consulting exposure: Gain exposure to the full consulting lifecycle from problem definition and analysis through to executive engagement, decision-making, and implementation, building commercial judgement alongside technical skills.
  • Excellence of output: We hold a high bar for the quality of our work. This means rigorous analysis, structured problem-solving, and clear, executive-ready outputs grounded in evidence and sound judgment. We combine intellectual depth with practical insight and empathy for the client context, and we are looking for people who take genuine pride in producing work of this standard.
  • Working environment: We focus on delivering outcomes for clients while collaborating, developing, and connecting as a team. The role is predominantly office‑based (at SPP offices or client sites), with bursts of time at home for focused work. Flexible working arrangements are also available based on individual circumstances.
  • Salary and Benefits: Competitive, market-aligned remuneration and benefits that support your professional growth and wellbeing.
