Strategy Consulting Team (SCT) seeks a Senior Consultant to provide direct support for business process analysis and improvement within a national security organization. The Senior Consultant – Business Process performs a wide variety of cross-functional activities that include but are not limited to: (1) documenting business processes and functions; and (2) participating in business process improvement/lean six sigma efforts to improve organizational operations (e.g., policy management, performance management and strategy). The Senior Consultant – Business Process assists clients with liaison efforts (e.g., policy reviews) and coordinating day-to-day activities among other offices. The Senior Consultant – Business Process will work collaboratively as an effective team member and will work onsite with the client in the Washington, DC area, with potential for hybrid. Travel up to 20% is required for this position.
Successful candidates will have senior-level consulting experience in improving business processes, and transforming Business, Government, Military or Management and Operating contractor organizations.
Preference is for an individual with experience working in a government, government contractor, DOD, DOE, or military environment. Experience working in a classified environment is a plus. A relevant understanding of applicable policies and procedures supporting NNSA programs is also a plus. The individual should be a self-starter, possess the ability to work in a highly dynamic environment, and effectively interact with a broad range of Federal and military staff and senior leadership.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Manage strategy and business process analysis efforts for a major federal organization.
- The candidate will directly own and manage project deliverables such as process analysis, process and functional modelling, requirements gathering, user story development and solution implementation.
- Analyze data to identify information challenges and bottlenecks.
- Standardize processes and help setup and manage project and program governance structures.
- Responsible for conducting as-is and to-be process modelling and maintaining a broad range of policy, process, and program documentation.
- Collaborating with senior leaders in internal and external offices to promote a culture of transformation; synthesizing information for leadership.
- Proactively identify avenues to increase business process improvement adoption.
- Drive quantifiable business outcome/ impact through business process improvement efforts.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, IT, engineering, or closely related field required.
- Master’s degree in Business, IT, engineering or closely related field preferred.
Experience/Qualifications:
- 10-15 years of demonstrated direct and senior experience in identifying, analyzing and improving business processes, and identifying disparate data and integrating stove-piped data in Business, Government, DOE, DOD, Military, or Management and Operating contractor organizations. Experience in nuclear security environment is a significant plus.
- Possession of a TS or Q clearance required.
- Demonstrated ability to provide consulting expertise to enhance and standardize management and operations.
- Must be able to collate and analyze performance data to create meaningful reports that inform decision making.
- Experience supporting or managing technical and process related initiatives and projects.
- Experience leveraging critical thinking skills for rapidly shifting environment while maintaining attention to detail in a multi-project work environment with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to exercise mature judgment and make independent decisions in accordance with established policies, rules and procedures.
- Ability to work in a team environment; interacting with a range of federal and contractor staff and fully supporting federal team lead to complete assigned tasks and projects.
- Strong organizational skills and written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing while working in a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to work on-site with the client in Washington, DC
- Ability to travel up to 20%.
