Associate, Product Management & Engineering

New York

About Stripes

Stripes is a growth equity firm that makes $10 – $300 million investments in software and consumer businesses. Located in downtown New York, our team is comprised of experienced founders and operators. We’ve invested in and scaled influential companies globally including A24, monday.com, On Running, Udemy, Erewhon Market, KHAITE, Remitly, Kosas Cosmetics, Snyk, and Levain Bakery, among others.

Our approach pushes the investment team to think and operate like entrepreneurs — we provide active support in building networks, accelerating go-to-market efforts, recruiting talent, offering M&A and capital guidance, and supporting other operational elements critical to market leaders in the software and consumer markets.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for an Associate, Product Management & Engineering to join our team and play a key role in how Stripes operates behind the scenes. In this role you’ll partner with internal stakeholders across the firm to understand how work actually happens, surface pain points, and build internal tech or product features that make our teams more effective.
If you’re the kind of person who enjoys being scrappy, rolling up your sleeves, and seeing immediate impact — this might be your role.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the design, build, and maintenance of internal tools, dashboards, automations, or feature sets to support our investment team.
  • Interview and collaborate with teams across Stripes to understand workflows, tools, and pain points.
  • Translate stakeholder insights into clear feature & functional requirements and product roadmaps.
  • Write, review, deploy, and maintain code primarily in Ruby, Python and SQL
  • Lead the development lifecycle of internal solutions; from concept and prototyping through to implementation, deployment, iteration, and impact measurement.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally (Engineering, Product, Operations, Leadership) to prioritize features, manage trade-offs, and deliver value.

Who You Are

  • 5-8 years of professional experience in software engineering, product management, or a hybrid of the two.
  • Strong technical foundation in Ruby, Python and SQL.
  • Strong desire to supplement your workflow with AI-augmented IDEs like Cursor.
  • Proven track record of partnering with internal or external stakeholders to elicit needs, define solutions, and deliver value.
  • Naturally scrappy, resourceful, and eager to take initiative; you enjoy navigating ambiguity and building something from the ground up.
  • Excellent communicator who can engage with technical and non-technical team members across functions and levels.
  • Product-minded engineer: you not only build code, but also think deeply about user experience, workflow optimization, and how tools fit into broader business processes.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving, dynamic environment where priorities shift and you will be the bridge between product needs and engineering execution.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

At Stripes you’ll join a team that values entrepreneurial thinking, operational excellence, and genuine collaboration. The tools and systems you build will directly impact the speed and effectiveness of our entire firm — giving you high visibility, real ownership, and meaningful impact every day.

The anticipated base salary range for this role is $170,000 - $200,000 subject to standard withholding and applicable taxes. In addition to annual base salary, the role includes opportunity to receive and/or earn a discretionary bonus in accordance with Company’s policies. Compensation finally awarded to the candidate will be commensurate with the candidate’s skills and experience. Regular, full-time employees are eligible for Stripes’ competitive benefit programs.

Stripes is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
