Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing multi-unit level profitability, cost allocation, and the ability to match costs to specific projects. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with excellent analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments. This role is crucial for centralizing the cost accounting function for the greater project-based business.
Onsite – Oak Brook, IL Headquarters
Compensation and Benefits - $80,000-$90,000 plus full suite of benefits (healthcare, dental, vision, 401K match, etc)
Key Responsibilities:
- Compile, calculate, and distribute accurate monthly commission reports for all sales representatives by applying established commission structures, rates, and criteria to ensure timely and precise accounting.
- Utilize and update commission model to ensure accurate commission payments and reporting functions.
- Ensure all commission accounting practices comply with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
- Analyze components of COGS and calculate gross profit to assess financial impact and support accurate reporting.
- Assisting with development of processes for accurately tracking sales performance metrics and calculating the corresponding commission amounts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives and provide financial insights.
- Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
- Aid in the development and implementation of a centralized accounting function to streamline processes and improve efficiency across the organization.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements related to compensation.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Ensure consistency and accuracy in financial reporting by standardizing accounting practices and procedures.
- Participate in special projects and ad-hoc analyses as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required, Accounting degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in accounting, with time spent in cost accounting specifically.
- Experience supporting private equity-backed companies or similar environments experiencing a high rate of change desirable.
- CPA certification is a plus.
- Proficiency in Acumatica or similar ERP is a plus.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and compensation accounting principles.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
