Reporting to the Chief Transformation Officer, the Director of Data & Analytics will support and enable the business objectives of Strongpoint’s business units, working alongside the Strongpoint executive team. This is a highly strategic role within a fast-growing company, focused on communicating with the business units on data needs, enabling a robust data pipeline from disparate systems into our Snowflake instance, and delivering best-practice recommendations and insights with business intelligence and data visualization. The ideal candidate will have a player/coach mentality and will be adept at both leading and rolling up his/her sleeves to execute.
**Strongpoint’s headquarters is in Chicago – our preference is for this role to be hybrid in the Chicago area.**
What you'll do:
Insight and Analysis Strategy:
- Develop a strategic approach, in conjunction with our business unit and executive leadership teams, to define critical growth insights, identify relevant data elements, and integrate them into a visualization layer that will improve access and insights for driving strategic decision making
- Create a structured data grading system that prioritizes the most important data elements and provides guidance on how to increase data accessibility, quality, and accuracy for our business unit leadership
Communicate:
- Communicate with, collaborate with, and influence leaders from business units and the executive team to define KPIs and aggregate the required inputs to track and report out on what matters
Enable a Data Pipeline:
- Synthesize and normalize data from multiple finance, CRM, and operational systems into our data pipeline and Snowflake instance, leveraging dedicated engineering resources
Develop BI Dashboards and Visualization:
- Create a strategic vision, gather feedback from key business stakeholders, and tactically execute on building dashboards using PowerBI or similar tooling, enabling team members to independently access reports and insights
Establish Data Governance Framework:
- Develop and implement data governance policies and procedures across all business units to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with industry standards
Who you are:
- A player/coach with a high degree of intellectual curiosity, who approaches the data and analytics field from a business mindset
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of 7-10 years in data and analytics
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-starter who wants to make an impact
- Ability to quickly learn and understand various systems and data structures to map them into a consistent structure
- Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficiency with tools such as PowerBI, Snowflake, Dbt, and with SQL. Python a plus
- Creative thinking with a data-driven approach
- Ability to inspire and lead collaborative efforts
- Adaptable with a forward-thinking mindset
