We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Business Intelligence Data Engineer to join our Data & Analytics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and managing our data infrastructure, as well as extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) data from various sources. You will play a critical role in enabling our business stakeholders to make data-driven decisions by providing accessible, accurate, and timely business intelligence visualizations. 

Their duties include guiding, building, and executing upon our long-term data pipelining and business intelligence roadmap in addition to being the primary oversight for execution of related activities. The candidate will interface and work closely with data stakeholders, the executive team, as well as leaders from across the organization. 

**Strongpoint’s headquarters is in Chicago – our preference is for this role to be hybrid in the Chicago area.** 

What you'll do: 

Data Infrastructure Management: 

  • Design, construct, install, test, and maintain highly scalable data warehousing systems. 
  • Ensure systems meet business requirements and industry practices for data integrity, performance, and reliability. 
  • Monitor data performance and modify infrastructure as needed. 
  • Implement data governance policies and comply with data protection regulations. 

Extract/Transform/Load (ETL) Duties: 

  • Develop and maintain scalable and robust ETL pipelines to support data collection, integration, and transformation needs. 
  • Collaborate with relevant business stakeholders to assist in data cleaning, data exploration, and delivering timely data into relevant destination data warehouse(s). 
  • Optimize data retrieval, develop dashboards, reports, and visualizations to facilitate business decisions. 

Business Intelligence & Visualization: 

  • Transform raw data into insightful business intelligence visualizations and interactive dashboards using BI tools like Power BI, AWS Quicksight, or similar. 
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand their data analysis needs and deliver comprehensive data insights to aid strategic decision-making. 
  • Regularly review and improve existing BI solutions for performance and scalability. 

Collaboration & Communication: 

  • Collaborate with IT, security, and business teams to understand data governance requirements and implement systems accordingly. 
  • Communicate complex data concepts and insights in a clear and concise manner to stakeholders at all levels of the organization. 
  • Provide training and support to business users to effectively utilize BI tools and dashboards. 

Who you are:  

  • Bachelor's or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. 
  • 3-5+ years experience in prior data engineering roles with a focus on ETL processes and Business Intelligence. 
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with relational databases 
  • Extensive experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools. 
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, Scala). 
  • Experience with Enterprise Data Warehouse & BI tools, such as Snowflake, Power BI, AWS Quicksight, or similar. 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. 
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills 
  • Creative thinking with a data-driven approach
