About Retirement Planning Consulting Group, (RPCG):
Based outside of Hartford, Connecticut, Retirement Planning Consulting Group (RPCG) leverages their breadth and depth of expertise across all retirement plan considerations to optimize plan performance for their clients and participants. RPCG is an operating partner of Strongpoint Partners, a leading tech-enabled financial services retirement platform backed by Shore Capital Partners (SCP).
Position Summary:
The Director of TPA Operations will serve as the operational backbone of the firm—someone who has effectively “run the shop,” acted as a trusted right-hand to ownership, and is comfortable taking ownership of day-to-day execution as well as longer-term operational strategy.
This role guides the organization operationally, supporting continued growth and evolution amid industry change. The person in this role brings confidence, sound judgment, and a steady leadership presence that inspires trust among staff, clients, and advisor partners.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a fully remote position and can be performed from anywhere within the United States; however, due to the primary locations of our team and clients, the selected candidate will need to accommodate an Eastern time schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Leadership & Execution
- Serve as a primary operational leader for the firm, ensuring smooth, efficient workflows across all departments.
- Take ownership of day-to-day operational decision-making, problem resolution, and prioritization with clarity and accountability.
- Identify operational risks and inefficiencies and proactively implement improvements to enhance service delivery and scalability.
- Client & Advisor Engagement
- Handle complex client and advisor calls, providing guidance on plan-related matters and resolving issues with professionalism and confidence.
- Oversee proposal preparation and collaborate closely with a select group of financial advisors to support new business and client retention.
- Act as a trusted escalation point for high-level service concerns.
- Team Collaboration & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner closely with the Manager of Defined Contribution Administration to ensure consistent, high-quality plan administration and service outcomes.
- Work in collaboration with the Office Manager on invoicing, internal operations, and process management.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and direction to team members during a period of organizational transition and growth.
- Financial & Strategic Contribution
- Participate in budgeting discussions and develop a strong understanding of how operational decisions impact financial performance.
- Contribute to the development and execution of quarterly company goals, operational priorities, and long-term planning initiatives.
- Support leadership in maintaining a strong upward growth trajectory through thoughtful planning, operational discipline, and execution.
- Technology & Process Oversight
- Oversee IT program and initiatives to ensure effective technology support and timely issue resolution.
- Help evaluate and implement operational and technology enhancements aligned with the firm’s growth and compliance needs.
Qualifications:
- Significant experience within a mid-sized TPA firm, with demonstrated responsibility for firm-wide operations or serving as a senior operational leader.
- Proven ability to make informed, independent decisions in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to guide teams through change while maintaining morale, accountability, and service quality.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and client service skills.
- A practical, solutions-oriented mindset with a willingness to take ownership and drive results.
- Experience with the ASC system strongly preferred.
