Electrical, Battery & Propulsion Systems Internships - Summer 2027

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program in a related field, or equivalent relevant education/experience
  • Previous internship, work, or project experience in aerospace, electric aviation, EVs, engineering, manufacturing, or a related field
  • University, design, entrepreneurial, or personal projects demonstrating technical skills, creativity, or an interest in electric aviation

 

ELECTRICAL, BATTERY, & PROPULSION SYSTEMS SPECIFIC TEAMS

The teams within this focus area design, develop, and test the electrical, battery, propulsion, and ground support systems that power BETA’s aircraft and enable safe, reliable operation from the aircraft to the ground. 

 

AIRBORNE HARDWARE 

Designs and integrates the physical electrical and electronic hardware that supports safe, reliable aircraft operation. Strong candidates have experience in: 

  • Electrical hardware design & circuit analysis
  • Schematic capture, PCB design & component selection
  • Laboratory testing, troubleshooting & validation
  • Requirements management, documentation & configuration control 

 

GROUND SUPPORT EQUIPMENT (GSE) ENGINEERING 

Designs and develops the ground equipment, tools, and systems that enable the operation, maintenance, testing, and charging of BETA aircraft. Strong candidates have experience in: 

  • SolidWorks, MATLAB or Mathcad
  • Mechanical, electrical or systems engineering
  • Test execution, troubleshooting & data analysis
  • Safety practices, technical documentation & cross-functional collaboration
  • Mechanical Design, analysis, test experience
  • Root Cause Corrective Action
  • Mechanical curiosity, experience designing & making mechanical things

 

BATTERY RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

Develops, tests, and advances BETA’s high-voltage battery systems, supporting safe, reliable, and high-performance electric aircraft operations. Strong candidates have experience in: 

  • Battery systems, electrochemistry & energy storage
  • Test planning, instrumentation & data analysis
  • Thermal management & electrical safety
  • Design of experiments, root-cause analysis & technical documentation 

 

MOTORS RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

Designs, develops, and validates electric motors and propulsion components that power BETA’s aircraft. Strong candidates have experience in: 

  • CATIA/3DEXPERIENCE, MATLAB/Simulink, ANSYS, Python
  • Electric machines, electromagnetics & power electronics
  • Mechanical design, CAD & engineering analysis
  • Dyno testing, instrumentation & data analysis
  • Manufacturing processes, troubleshooting & design iteration 

 

The wage listed here reflects our best faith estimate for this role. We pay competitively and base compensation on a variety of factors including skills, experience, industry background, and the evolving needs of the role.
