THE DATA ARCHITECT POSITION
Sunnova Energy is currently searching for a Data Architect responsible for data collection, modeling, and integration strategies, developing solutions for the enterprise using Python, AWS, Snowflake, Informatica Cloud platform, and applying data science principles to solve business problems and drive data architecture strategy. This individual will combine software development skills with business acumen to
ingest data from APIs, files, and databases, transform and organize data at the database level, analyze and interpret the meaning of data, and produce reporting systems as well as managing the Sunnova’s enterprise data warehouse. 


DATA ARCHITECT RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Data Pipeline Development: Design, build, and maintain data pipelines that seamlessly integrate data from Salesforce, OEM data streams, and other sources, utilizing tools like Informatica, Fivetran and dbt.
•    Snowflake Expertise: Manage Snowflake data warehouses, optimize data storage and retrieval, and implement best practices for performance, Security, and scalability.
•    AWS Infrastructure: Build and manage scalable, high-performance data solutions using AWS services (S3, Lambda, EC2, Redshift, etc.), ensuring security, reliability, and efficiency.
•    Salesforce and OEM Data Integration: Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from Salesforce and OEM data streams into Snowflake, implementing data consistency and accuracy for analytics and reporting purposes.
•    Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with data analysts, data scientists, and cross-functional teams to understand data needs, gather requirements, and implement solutions that support data-driven decision-making.
•    Data Quality and Governance: Maintain high-quality data standards and apply governance practices to ensure data integrity, compliance, and security.
•    Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor and enhance pipeline performance, reducing downtime and optimizing data flow from diverse data sources. Examines and identifies database structural needs by evaluating application and query performance, operational patterns, and various data use cases.
•    Researches and rigorously evaluates sources of information to determine limitations in reliability or usability. 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
•    Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
•    Experience: 5+ years in data architecture, data engineering, data warehousing, 3+ years of experience in Snowflake or related Cloud Databases
•    Expertise in pulling data from Salesforce and OEM data sources and building complex data pipelines for ingesting large volumes of data at various frequencies.
•    Technical Proficiency: Strong experience with Snowflake and orchestration tools like Fivetran and dbt for efficient data integration, transformation, and orchestration.
•    Proficient with the company's data model and how it fits into various organizational functions. Ability to analyze substantial amounts of data and draw meaningful trends and conclusions.
•    AWS Knowledge: Hands-on experience with AWS services, especially as they pertain to data storage, transformation, and pipeline management. In-depth knowledge of AWS architecture and services, especially Lambda functions, to manage serverless operations.
•    Salesforce and OEM Data Expertise: Extensive experience with Salesforce data integration (APIs, SOQL) and familiarity with OEM data streams and associated integration challenges.
•    Legally authorized to work in the US for ANY employer.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
•    Relevant certification around AWS, Snowflake, Python, Data Ware/Lake/Lake House background or experience with edge computing telemetry data, and Salesforce.
•    Proficient with software development using cloud-based infrastructure and database services from AWS and Snowflake.
•    Familiar with data catalog, data quality, master data management (MDM), and data governance best practices.
•    Familiar with agile software development practices, test-driven development, and story point estimations.
•    Familiar with data science concepts such as time-series forecasting, stochastic optimization, classification, and regression analysis.
•    Familiar with renewable energy concepts such as solar energy production modeling, battery dispatch, and optimal dispatch modeling.
•    Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD practices in data projects.

•    Ability to identify opportunities for technical improvements across multiple data pipelines and recommend solutions.
•    Ability to influence technical design decisions & make recommendations on high level architecture.
•    Ability to identify platform wide opportunities for technical improvements recommend solutions, & advocate for implementation.

WORKING CONDITIONS
•    Extended periods of time working at a computer workstation.
•    Some overtime required.
