
Staff Accountant , Cash Management
Experiences Cash Management Staff Accountant
Sunnova is seeking a skilled accountant to lead key functions within cash management, including cash tracking, reconciliation, and close support. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this individual will handle core accounting duties such as journal entries, account reconciliations, monthly close processes, supporting schedules, and roll forwards. The role also involves preparing and analyzing actual-to-budget variances to support financial accuracy and transparency. The ideal candidate will help identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and support the implementation of automation tools, including AI-driven solutions, to improve speed, accuracy, and efficiency in financial operations
Responsibilities
- Perform all related accounting functions required to maintain the general ledger in compliance with GAAP and company policy for notes receivable and revenue entries, general accounting accruals, and other supporting entries.
- Coordinate month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing activities to ensure timely reporting as well as assist with quarterly public audits
- Identify and reconcile any financial discrepancies
- Analyze monthly results and perform variance/aging analysis
- Prepare supporting schedules for possibly public and many non-public financial statements
- Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations for customer AR and bank reconciliations for multiple entities
- Prepare, review, and clearly communicate various analyses and other information to members of management and external auditors
- Assist with internal controls over cash handling processes and support external audit requests related to cash and banking.
- Partner with revenue management and treasury to reconcile cash movements and intercompany settlements.
- Contribute to process automation efforts including AI-driven solutions involving cash reconciliations and bank data integration
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum of three years of accounting experience or one year of public accounting experience
- An undergraduate degree with an accounting concentration
- Familiarity with bank portals
- Experience working in a multi-entity and high-volume transaction environment
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA is preferred
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Experience in renewable energy space is a plus
- Experience with ERP environment
