JOB SUMMARY

The Sunnyside* Shop (Glenview, IL) is a new retail concept created to support shoppers at every stage of their wellness journey. Designed as a boutique wellness experience, the shop will offer a curated assortment of wellness & lifestyle products. This concept aims to present a more normalized, elevated, and professional approach to wellness retail.

The Store Manager will lead all aspects of store operations for this retail pilot. This role oversees daily operations, sales performance, customer acquisition & experience, team leadership, marketing and community outreach, inventory strategy, and overall store administration. It is ideal for someone who enjoys leading teams, educating and connecting with customers, and who brings strong experience in retail and a passion for modern-day wellness.

You’re the friend who’s always testing new supplements, tracking sleep and stress with wearable tech, swapping in adaptogens for afternoon energy, or experimenting with breathwork, cold plunges, or infrared therapy.
  • You approach wellness with curiosity and intention—blending evidence-based practices with cutting-edge discoveries. You’re an early adopter, a keen observer of what works, and thoughtful about sharing insights that help others feel and perform better without giving medical advice.
  • You take strong ownership in your work. You walk into the store every day and treat it as your own; you are passionate about bringing the best experience to the local community and take pride in what you are building.
  • You have a passion for customer relationships. You’re the friend that’s known to strike up conversation with the grocery clerk, the mailman or the nail tech.  You can make a connection with just about anyone, and you will bring that energy to the store.
  • You know the local Glenview community; you know where to find local shoppers and businesses that are wellness-adjacent, and you have ideas on how to build partnership and friendships to support growth of the store.

CORE JOB DUTIES 

Store Operations 

  • Develop and implement store policies that reflect our core values and support operational effectiveness.
  • Manage daily store operations, ensuring efficient and consistent execution of opening and closing procedures.
  • Plan & adhere to visual merchandising guidelines including planograms, seasonal displays and focus products
  • Plan & maintain store cleanliness, organization, and appealing visual merchandising.
  • Manage inventory levels, conduct regular stock checks, and coordinate reorders. Proactively suggest products or categories to round out the assortment, and re-order inventory at set re-order points according to budgets and category/product mix targets.
  • Support drafting & updating of all standard operating procedures, ensuring compliance with health, safety, regulatory and store policies.
  • Monitor and manage point-of-sale systems and daily financial reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, state, and local laws.

Sales & Customer Experience 

  • Provide exceptional customer service and foster a welcoming, educational environment. 
  • Educate customers about hemp wellness and lifestyle products, including benefits and usage. 
  • Identify customer needs and recommend suitable products or solutions. 
  • Develop strategies to increase foot traffic and drive sales performance. 
  • Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints with professionalism. 

Team Leadership 

  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise store wellness advisors. 
  • Responsible for planning store schedules and managing payroll targets.  
  • Motivate the team to achieve sales targets and maintain high service standards. 
  • Conduct regular team meetings and performance reviews. 
  • Promote a positive and collaborative work culture aligned with brand values. 

Marketing & Community Engagement 

  • Develop local outreach & in-store event plans to generate new customer growth within the local community. 
  • Partner on the overall product assortment and promotional plans including store-level discounts, new product launches, seasonal campaigns and local partnerships  
  • Manage social media presence and engage with local community networks. 
  • Report on sales trends, customer insights and competitive analysis to inform marketing and promotional strategies. 

Administration & Reporting 

  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs), including sales, customer retention, and inventory turnover. 
  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure timely product deliveries. 
  • Prepare weekly or monthly sales and operational reports. 
  • Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and profitability. 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SKILLS  

  • 5+ years of retail experience and experience leading teams 
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills 
  • Strong understanding of retail operations, sales techniques and visual merchandising 
  • Experience supervising, training and motivating retail staff 
  • Passion for hemp-derived THC and wellness product space 
  • Warm, approachable and professional demeanor 
  • Self-motivated with strong initiative and sense of ownership  
  • Proficient in basic computer applications (MS Teams, Outlook, Excel, POS Systems) 
  • Available to work all hours of operation inclusive of nights, weekends and holidays 

BENEFITS

Benefits eligibility for permanent positions may vary by full-time or part-time roles, location, or position.

In accordance with any local and state compensation laws, the compensation listed is the current estimated range for the position. Final offer details and future compensation may be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to, geographic location, market compensation data, skills, experience, and other relevant factors. Pay Range

$50,000 - $60,000 USD
